Commercial Description:
Very stong (11%ABV) Belgian-Style ale... deep amber-red in color and full bodied... malty sweetness with a plum-like fruity charecter and just a hint of spicyness.

6 oz sample at the brewpub. Dark maroon color, creamy thin lasting head; yeasty, brown-sugary nose. Very, very sweet, candylike: brown sugar/caramel/vanilla, lots of yeast. Simple but effective; very light and effervescent. Will be much too sweet for some, but it worked all right for me.

Poured a clear amber color with a small, thin, off white head that left no lacing on the glass. Aroma of dark fruits, candy sugar, banana, and raisins. Taste of caramel malts, dried fruits, candy sugar, vanilla, and a bit of raisin, with pronounced alcohol in the finish.

BCTCWC. Pours a deep dark amber, slight haze and a thinning head. Aroma is tons of fruity esters, plum, raisin, apple, and apricot- sharp sweet caramel and dark crystal malts with a sharp spicy phenolic kick. Flavor has that sharp twang goig on from over the top sweet sharp crystally malts, and overload of fusel and fruity esters- spicy as well- black pepper adn almost a cardamon and licorice hit in the end- earthy and leathery in the middle but overall just too much going on here and it seems jumbled together. Meh.

Sample at PCBF 08. Pours a translucent deep amber with a bubbly/creamy off white head. Aroma of sweet malts, toffee, Belgian yeast esters and some brown sugar. Flavor was also kind of malty and sweet, some Belgian yeast esters, a little fruity and some nutty notes.

draft at bigwood. pours a hazy toffeed medium amber. big sharp lacto bomb nose. medium, slightly creamy body but entirely still due to wood and acid. lots of lacto on the mid palate. mild bitey acidic finish.

Draught at Nodding Head: Aroma of Belgian yeast, Belgian pale malt, slight spice, light fruit, and slight alcohol. Poured orange in color with a medium-sized, off-white head that diminished but lasted throughout. Hazy. Slightly sparkling. Fair lacing. Flavor is medium to heavily sweet. Tastes of alcohol, Belgian yeast, and a hint of spices. Medium body. Slightly thin, slick texture. Average carbonation. Sweet, Belgian yeast, and pale Belgian malt finish.

This is a pretty dark prune-juice mahagony. The falvor is a bit sugary and the Belgian yeast profile is low. There is a bit of overripe fruit in there, though. This is a very timid attempt at a Belgian strong, but not really that bad of beer.
