Commercial Description:
Our 100th batch, brewed for the enjoyment of the brewers, but popular demand forced us to release it commercially. Most enjoyable in a comfortable chair in front of a roaring fire.

Recommended serving temperature 16°C/61°F Ingredients: Maris Otter, wheat, and chocolate malt; Columbus, Chinook, and Centennial hops; English ale yeast, and our local Grimstad water.

23,5°P, 80 IBU, 10% ABV.

Editor's note: Even though the label says "Barley Wine" in the States, the brewery says it's brewed to be an IIPA. The American label was a glitch. In Europe it's sold as an IIPA.

Bottle from SL. Pour was ruby-orangey-brown in color, decent initial head that sustained itself as a thin covering, mainly a ring after a few minutes. The aroma was caramel malts with citrus-piney hops detectable. The flavor followed suit, a full bodied barleywine, big malty brew with a good hop balance, yet nothing like an imperial ipa, although my bottle is probably aged a year (or more?). Good carbonated balance to the mouthfeel, nicely done, good drinkability.

Bottle, I had never had a "Barley Wine", but as turns out this isn’t, so I guess I can’t cross that one off yet, haha. Pours a dark brown with a hint of red. Odor is hoppy and malty and rich. This beer is a meal, chocolaty caramel hints, but a nice smooth bitterness that compliments. Whatever classification this beer fits in, it’s a tasty one!

Enjoyed with Steve, The CelticBrew-meister and the magical DrBayern. This stuff is BLACK! Chocolate tinged head over a black body. You can taste the chocolate malts. The hopping was very nice. I want another!!!

Dark red/brown with a small beige head. Nose of strong grapefruit hop, chocolate, minor roast, and something odd, almost rotting. Flavor is strongly sweet and of more citrus, caramel, chocolate, and moderate alcohol warming. Salty and full bodied, #100’s chocolate is a nice touch to the overwhelming size of this beer.

Shared with the boys at Steves. Poured from bomber a dark ruby forming a decent foamy head. Aroma of hops, smokey fruits, perhaps some spice or herbs. Flavour was of a porter style beer, extremely smooth, yet somewhat bitter. As I was expecting an IIPA style beer, I was pleasantly surprised by my own interpretation. Overall good beer from our friends in Norway.

c.6 months aged bottle. Very dark ruby, fluffy beige head. Very piney nose, intense sweet, dark maltiness. Strong resiny, liquorice spicy and ashy flavor, herbal hoppy, extremely bitter finish. A bit syrupy, medium to full bodied, slick mouthfeel. Enjoyable, but a bit tangy DIPA, definitely on the darker side. Turns into a berry wine mess with age.

Bottle at Bishops Arms, Järntorget, Gothenburg. Brown color with a nice beige head. Aroma and taste of american hops, grapefruit, toasted sweet malt, nuts, chocolate, alcohol, wood and caramel. Both very sweet and very bitter. Full bodied. Half a bottle was almost too much.

It’s labeled as a barleywine, but it’s more reminiscent of a lighter baltic porter in my opinion. Pours a dark chocoalte colour, nice huge nutty head. aroma is soft of roasted malts and dark chocolate- however the mouthfeel is very full, lots of breadiness, dry and alcohol flavor. My first norwegian brew i believe- very impressive.
