Commercial Description:
Our 100th batch, brewed for the enjoyment of the brewers, but popular demand forced us to release it commercially. Most enjoyable in a comfortable chair in front of a roaring fire.

Recommended serving temperature 16°C/61°F Ingredients: Maris Otter, wheat, and chocolate malt; Columbus, Chinook, and Centennial hops; English ale yeast, and our local Grimstad water.

23,5°P, 80 IBU, 10% ABV.

Editor's note: Even though the label says "Barley Wine" in the States, the brewery says it's brewed to be an IIPA. The American label was a glitch. In Europe it's sold as an IIPA.

50 cl bottle. Dark brown to ruby colour. Massive and thick head is creamy and looks awsome. The aroma has loads of hops and sweet maltiness. Hop profile is fruity(mango, lemon). Resiny pine needles in the aftertaste. Slighy roasted and chocolatey malt base. Sweet and a bit creamy toffee cuts some of the bitterness of the finish. Very long and hoppy aftertaste. Full bodied and syrupy thich mouthfeel. Biting bitterness in the finish. Good stuff but a few months in the cellar might make it even better.

23/10/2009. 750ml bottle, shared, at Hashigo Zake. Hazy chestnut (though it’s dark in there and hard to tell). Light tan head. Burnt sugar toffee and resinous hops. Herbal. Solid, pleasant, but unspectacular.

another rarity in norway, but here in new jersey, i find my dad drinking it everytime i go home. pours brownishamber with a tiny beige head. sticking to the edges, nose is rich, caramel, some sort of flower i cant remember, clover honey, mead. big mead nose. taste is. well sticky mouthfeel, great balance between sweet caramel malt and bitter orange rind great mouthfeel that is sticky and syrupy without overdoing it. a beautiful brew. one of the best ipas i think ive had.

Bottle from Nickls, who brought it over for a tasting. We didn’t drink it at that point, and he left it here, then moved to Switzerland, so I’ve decided to drink it. I’d say that’s fair. Thanks, Nick :D

Pours is extremely murky brown with quite a nice head. Herbal, full, soupy aroma. Blunt, bitter flavor, very murky and yeasty and satisfying. Surprisingly easy drinking for a IIPA/barleywine hybrid. I dig.

Pours hazy deep red, nice foamy tan head. Aroma has a lot of brown sugar and a strong citric hop character. Smells like a hoppy Barley Wine.
Sweet brown sugar initially, followed by grapefruity hops. The sugars really take over with a molasses and raisiny sweetness mid way through, but somehow the generous hopping manages to balance this perfectly. There is a slight roastyness throughout, and none of that 10% alcohol at all in the flavour.
Shit, I’m feeling this one! A sign of an amazing barley wine/IIPA

Bottle bought at Systembolaget. The fragrance is wonderful, taste some chocolate, but above all a lot of hops, citrus and pineapple. Really great! Well balanced, long aftertaste.

A- Pours a dark brownish hue with a thin, earthy head. S- Very malty, caramel, dark fruit. T- Lots of dark fruit, caramel, and toffee notes without being sweet in the slightest. Dominant hop character from begining to end with a nice and bitter finish. M- Thick with low carbonation. D- This is a very tasty beer. Excellent to sip on on a cold night.

16oz bottle. Pours a dark reddish brown with a big long lasting khaki head. Nose is oddly herbal hops, some grain heavy malt nose and a dash of caramel. A bit odd. Flavor is pretty god awful. Astringent herbal bitterness dominated, no real malt flavor, this is one of the worst beers I’ve had from Nogne. Not sure if its a bad bottle (I tend to think not cause others who had it from the area said it was bad as well) the only real nice thing I can say is it fades into a nice creamy caramel aftertaste after that odd herbal bitterness fades.
