| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Jun 1, 2009 After a real dwahl on the ratings front I am inspired to rate this one. The presentation in the glass is a much deeper borwn than expected, with the haziness that comes from a bottle conditioning later in the pouur. The nose is a melange of good robust IPA hops and fine toffee notes that give it a great balance. The ABV is noticeable but not overtly so. As we get closer to winter in the southern hemisphere I agree that it is a better beer for the cooler months. A very good beer and fine introduction to a popular brewer. The $20 price tag for the beer is not a concern as it is worthy of the accolades given to it.

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 18/20 | Dec 9, 2009 Thanks again to Ucusty for the bottle! Pours brown with a huge, steady, creamy tan head. The aroma is full of fruity hops. Apple, pear, prunes, orange, chocolate, and a hint of lemon. The flavor is sweet and malty to start with lots of caramel, toffee, orange and spice. A warming toasted quality washes over the palate next with the dominating hop bitterness that reminds me this is technically an Imperial IPA. This is one unique beer. To me, it doesn’t seem like a IIPA or a barleywine. I’m not sure what it is, but it is very tasty and rides the boundaries of a few different styles. I liked it. 502Flavors (621), Louisville, Kentucky, USA

Licorice, chocolate, dough, tobacco, and more on both the flavor and aroma. All in all, its a complex and very worthy brew, Worth picking up if you see it. zach8270 (2115), Henrietta, New York, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 23, 2009 Bottle. Poured a deep brown with an amber hue with a cream light brown head. Aroma had notes of grainy malts but more present were earthy hops. Flavor was well balanced between the bitterness of the hops and the sweetness of the malts. jtpaajan (4), Finland does not count | 4.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Nov 20, 2009 Thick head, dark-brownish colour. Lots of hops, some sweetness but quite dry overall. Absolutely fantastic double ipa, and one of the best beers I’ve ever tasted!
