Small offwhite head. Deep brownish red body. Nutty earthy strawberry aroma with roasted almonds and toffee notes. Sweet-dry alcoholic dusty roasty strawberry taste with fruity nutty caramel notes. Fullish body. Rounded, warm mouthfeel. Dry roasty dusty nutty malty aftertaste with earthy syrupy roasted almonds notes. Complex and harmonic, even though it’s still strictly speaking quite green. Will rerate, because this is bound to improve with age. (0.35l draft, Olympen, Oslo.)

Bottle 50 cl. Pours a slightly hazy dark amber golden with a rough off-white head. Nose is full of fat sweet caramel, overripe fruit and alcohol. Quite full-bodied, lots of caramel, nuts and overripe fruit. Warming alcohol in the finish with some aromatic hops. Solid. 251109

Amber with a creamy off-white head. Weak malty aroma with almond notes and some fruit. Rich and sweet malty and fruity flavour, some alcohol and a good bityter finish. Huge cellaring potential.

(Bottled) Hazy dark reddish brown with a very small head. Very sweet, vinous and grainy-malty nose with raisiny fruitiness. Almost no aroma when cooled. Flavor of hefty, sweet and grainy maltiness, with pretty intense hopping. Very full body, syrupy-sticky, almost flat. Immensely malty and even enjoyable in small doses, but too sweet and straightforward to score better.

(Bottle at Pikkulintu) Poured reddish brown and clear with small white head. Aroma contained fresh grains and sweetness. Palate was medium bodied and dry with medium carbonation. Flavours were lot of grain, sweetness, malts, hint of alcohol and bitterness. Aftertaste was malty. This was no barley wine if you think of aroma and flavours. More like a bock. Still a good beer and alcohol was quite well hidden.

Bottled (Pikkulintu, batch #435, brewed 180609)
Deep ruby color, small off-white head. Light, a bit caramelly, malty, cough syrup ... very weak nose. Sweet vanilla flavor, malty, alcohol, finish has bitter, grassy hoppyness with even harsh notes. Long alcoholic aftertaste. Dissapointing.

A Mes rate. Bottle at Pigs Ear thanks to Knut.
Very hazy orange amber with a thin beige head. Superb sweet barley wine snout with a good resinous topping and a bit of a boozy sting. Faint bubble gum and putty to be added to the list once it gets in the mouth. Thick and gloopy and just a barrel full of fun. Stunning bittersweet finish. Excellent stuff all round.
