Jan 7, 2009 Black pour with a smooth fast falling brown head. Oily on the palate, quite a bit lighter bodied then the 1st edition. Alcohol was hot and the flavors are still a bit sharp, but should settle as it ages. Lots of dark chocolate, slight char and licorice. Good, but I thought the 1st edition turned out better.

Jan 6, 2009 #04591. Sheer black color with an incredibly dark creamy tan head. The alcohol is nose startling. Aromas of coffee, toasted malt and arguably treacle. Very full body with mildly creamy carbonation. Flavor is coffee and dark toast - but very smooth dark toast. Develops chocolate and mild heat with time. Finishes dry and coffee, with cacao traces. Mind blowing.

Jan 5, 2009 Bottle shared with bhensonb. This dark brown ale poured with a decent brown head with a strong alcohol aroma. There is a delicious chocolate and roasted malt flavor with a serious alcohol burn. Thanks Bill.

Jan 3, 2009 Tight as hell. MAssive alcohol, quite bitter. Nice roasty, malty notes, but the heat dominates. Needs some serious time in bottle before its drinking good. Thankfully Ive got one more btl in store. Hope it gets better in the next year.

Jan 2, 2009 Bottle. Medium high brown fluffy head disappearing astonishingly quickly. Pitch black body. Powerful coffee aroma but unfortunatly also a heavy scent of alcohol. Apart from that vineous. The flavor though does not have the same alcohol dominance as it is very well disguised by the coffee choccolate liquorice notes. Also very vineous. Low carbonation and a long aftertaste.

Jan 2, 2009 Bottle. Pours a black body with a tan head, soy malty chocolate. Sweet chocolate and minerals, a light roasty coffee and i must say this is dam smooth at 17%. Licorice and liqueur, not cloying either.

Dec 30, 2008 Rich creamy coffee aromas, bitter chocolate, with hints of dark fruits, chocolate covered dreid dark cherries, figs. Pours black with a thin tan head, the lacing does stain the glass amber a little. Strong flavors, alcohol, coffee, dark chocolates, licorice, rich and dark, very decadent, reminds me of a chocolate or coffee liquor. It gives a very warming sensation. Despite the alcohol, it is enjoyable to drink. Excellent.
