Opaque black-colored beer with a small, quickly-diminishing, brown head. Aroma of coffee and lots of alcohol. Strong alcoholic flavor with dark fruits, coffee, chocolate and roastiness. Too much alcohol. abemorsten (119), Norway
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 26, 2009 Tested @ NøgneØ stand @ Ølmessen, Nærbø. Black, cloudy body with creamy light brown head. Good lacing. The liquid sticks lie thin engineoil to the glass! Aroma is very rich with alcohol, heavy dark caramel, roasted barley, raisin, mild coffe beans. Intense! Rich sweet flavor, light bitterness, hints of salt, with long and heavy alcoholic finish. Full bodied. Syrupy/oily. Soft carbonation. Special and interesting. Oily-looking opaque brown-black with an average sized frothy brown head (4-). Nutty, boozy, charred aroma, with ketones and a hint sour cherry - pretty nice, actually. The taste is, let’s be honest, pretty hot (16%!) but I liked it - dry deep roast coffee, plus grounds, some molasses, pretty herbal - strong, bold and burnt. Slick and oily on the tongue, quite dry from the alcohol, somewhat still - warming and way nicer than I expected: but not quite up to the standard of the First Edition. patrick767 (2033), fort wayne, Indiana, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Oct 22, 2009 bottle at Ft Wayne tasting - Pours black with a very minimal tan head. It smells of rich, darkly roasted malt and alcohol. Note that the ABV is actually 17.5% as you can see on the label pictured here. As expected given that ABV, it tastes hot. That’s not to say it’s bad. The big roast malt with chocolate accents is very tasty. It’s full bodied and enjoyable, though perhaps would be even better with the alcohol toned down a couple percentage points. ditmier (1092), Boise, Idaho, USA

Full body licoriqe but not so dominating what I have heard earlier tastings from others. A year ago local monopoly Alko salesladies were so amazed when I told after buying my fourth bottle I will not touch this until this autumn. Next year next bottle even better I hope so. thornecb (1785), Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 16, 2009 Pours black into a snifter. Head quickly recedes to nothing. Strong alcohol and blackberry aromas. Stinging alcohol from front to back overlayed with upfront chocolate, a smoky middle and a sweet lasting licorice and berry finish. l1br4r14n (286), Washington, Washington DC, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 17/20 | Oct 15, 2009 Thanks KnN for sharing! Pours black with a dark brown head. Alcohol is big in the aroma, along with chocolate and dark berries. It burns, it burns! Tastes much like Godiva chocolate liqueur - fantastic chocolate flavor but overwhelming alcohol. I’d like to come back to this after four or five years, otherwise it’s too soon for this one.
