Commercial Description:
In the US this is called "Winter Ale".

A dark ale brewed specially for the Christmas season, with a rich, complex taste of caramel. This is a strong, dark and rather sweet Christmas Beer – just the way we think a Christmas beer should be.

Recommended serving temperature 12°C/53°F. Great with cheese or nuts. Ingredients: Lager, Munich, caramel, black, and chocolate malt; Chinook, Columbus, and Centennial hops; English ale yeast, and our local Grimstad water.

19°P, 30 IBU, 8.5 % ABV.

Dark brown to black with tanned lacing head. Burned malty aroma with salty liquorice and citric spices. Flavor is burned malts, liquorice, slight chocolate, coffee and quite strong spices. Smoothly bitter coffeeish finish. Medium to full bodied, smooth palate. Viciously burned and spicy but still extremely drinkable.

Pours an opaque dark brown with a tan head. Strong aroma of caramel and hops. Flavor starts sweet malty with caramel and hops and finishes with a nice roastedness. Good viscous body. Nice warming in the belly. Solid beer.

Pours a very dark brown with a pretty thick tan head that sticks around the edges. Aroma of intense caramel with some slightly roasted qualities and a little bit of earthy hop scents. Taste is similar to the aroma, except here the caramel is downplayed while the roasted malt is really pounded in. Still very sweet at first with a thick, creamy body and a lasting dry roasted finish.

Pours with a deep red body topped by a meidum thick, light brown head with some lacing. It’s sweet and malty with a touch of alcohol esters and a piney hop note. Medium to full bodied and slightly warming.

16.9 oz bottle purchased at Oak Tree. Pours a nice deep dark black with a super huge light brown foamy head. Aroma starts off very nice with notes of chocolate liquorice, mollasses, raisin, dark fruit, alcohol, roasted malts and grain. Medium to full bodied with good carbonation and some noticable alcohol warming. Flavor of chocolate, mollasses, grain, slight citrus. Really nice beer that leaves great lace and really "warms" you up.
