aliendan (25), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 23, 2008 Sweet grassy aroma with blueberry. The head is tan/brown and fluffy and the beer is opaque dark brown. Tastes pretty alcoholic with red wine-like sourness with very mild hops bitterness and slightly creaminess. Not bad, but it kinda tastes like a barleywine without much kick. dwyerpg (2519), Las Vegas, Nevada, USA Jan 23, 2008 Updated: Jan 27, 2008Hard to really identify the aroma on this. Flavor is dominated by a sweet character, Also, not real easy to identify the flavor right now. Roasty, maybe some chocolate. Nice, but not their best. But not too over-spiced like most Christmas ales. zebracakes (1214), Washington DC, USA Jan 23, 2008 Bottle, 0.5L. A gift from my friend Joshua in Malmö, Sweden. Pours black brown, tan head. Aroma is chocolate, malt, hops bitterness. Flavor is port, copper, malt, chocolate, hops, caramel. EHSRanders (1121), Randers C, Denmark Jan 16, 2008 Bottle. Dark brown colour with large creamy light brown fully lasting head. Nice aroma of roasted malt, chocolate and caramel. Sweet spicy flavor. Bitter finish. hophead75 (1945), Boonton, New Jersey, USA Jan 14, 2008 Updated: Jan 15, 2008another one from Beerworld of Largo. Very dark brown in color with some ruby highlights. Alot of caramelized malts and dark fruits, specificially raisins, chocolate, and light citrus hanging in the background in the aroma. In the taste, chocolate, molasses/caramel, raisins/figs, toffee, light notes of citrus. Full bodied and moderately sweet. Finishes lightly roasty with a lingering light hop bitterness, a touch of alcohol, and some dry chocolate. Complex, very nice beer. CelticBrew (676), The Crystal Coast, North Carolina, USA Jan 13, 2008 An American Strong Ale from Norway? Huh, lets see....Poured a very dark, dank brown forming an off white foam head which quickly dissipated. Really looking forward to this beer, as it is my first Nogne O beer. Aroma is of burnt prunes, malts, some pine resin, perhaps some chinese five spice. Flavour is of an exceptionally smooth ale. Another I would love to try on tap. I think American strong ales are a bit more hoppy, but this beer is still quite good and very close to the style. Thankyou our friends in Norway! NachlamSie (1630), Tennessee, USA Jan 11, 2008 Bomber. Pours pretty dark with a nice fluffy tan head. The aroma hits my nose with the subtlety of a brick: dry spices, baking chocolate, and earth. Flavor is more of the same. It’s a fairly dry beer with rewarding earthy tones and tasteful spices. I get nice chocolate flavors and even some roastiness coming through. The fact that the spices were not overdone was rewarding, but they didn’t contribute a whole lot to the beer either. It’s a good beer, but I wouldn’t got out of my way to drink it again. I didn’t find it strikingly American in attitude like some of their other beers. KimJohansen (6645), Copenhagen V, Denmark Jan 11, 2008 Hazy dark brown with tiny off white head. Sweet aroma with hints of chocolate, overripe fruits and roasted malt. Flavor is sweet with chocolate, roasted malt, overripe fruits and warming alcohol in the end.
