Sep 16, 2007 Somehow, I think I would’ve enjoyed it even more as "God Jul". Anyway, Dark brown, with a big brown head. Some notes of milk chocolate, some mellow herbal notes. Surprisingly clean finish. Very tasty.

Sep 15, 2007 Very dark brown. Nice nose - chocolate, toffee, smoked plum. The flavour is full, toffeeish, slightly smoky. Bitter finish. One of the best Nognes I’ve had.

Sep 11, 2007 Bottle shared at CapFlu’s tasting after GCBF. Very dark brown. Thin brownish cream head. Licorice and alcohol nose. Flavour of alcohol, chocolate and licorice.

Sep 7, 2007 Updated: Aug 28, 2009Coca Cola appearance with thin brown head. Aroma is roasty with a hint of caramel covered beef jerky. Taste is same with greater emphasis on roasty. Carbonation is fine and brisk. Not what I expected, but it’s not bad, either. $8/500ml

Sep 3, 2007 Poured a dark chestnut color with a medium sized tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of chocolate, caramel malts, nuts, and light citrus. Taste of more chocolate, roasted malts, nuts, caramel, and vanilla. Low bitterness, with low alcohol apparency. Very nice, I wish more brewers would make non-spiced winter ales!

Aug 30, 2007 Bought at Ledger’s Liquors, in Berkeley, CA. Pours nice tan head which lasts for quite some time. Microfine carbonation that’s visible but not overpowering. No aroma to speak of. Flavors leaning towards the roasted malts. Not especially hoppy. Nice drinking beer, but a bit on the expensive side for us here in Calif.
