| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 11/20 | Mar 2, 2007 Bottle. Deep brown color, full foam. Very mild aroma, a hint of dark malt and weedy, herbaceous hops.
Flavor is very interesting and complex and I can see why others like it, but I just don’t enjoy the profile. It has a lot of hints herbal tea, resinous hops and light malt components. Doesn’t seem very together. However, I had their Imperial Stout a couple days ago. Top notch stuff. apoptosis (1316), Long Island, New York, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 1, 2007 Very dark brown, nearly black - slight head, tan in color, around the sides of the glass. Deliciously dry, bitter, coffee and cocoa-filled aroma. The flavor is milky-sweet, the lactose is very pleasant to balance out the bitterness. Ever so slight astringency. Pleasant hoppiness is an interesting mix with the roastiness, woodiness and vanilla. notalush (2647), Denver, Colorado, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 1, 2007 Very dark red, kind of burgundy pour, with large, fairly well-sustained tan head - very doughy, biscuit-like malt aroma, with hints of roasted nuts, light spice presence, chocolate pudding, and a touch of brown sugar - smells very much like an english strong ale - fairly soft carbonation, with a medium body - nice balance between sweet, bitter and roasty - lots of nutty flavors, with touches of dark chocolate and mild background spices - the pudding-like quality from the aroma comes out in the finish - everything about this beer seems like an english strong to me, so much so that’s I’d call for a reclassification of this one. sliffy (1967), Columbus, Ohio, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 26, 2007 Bottle courtesy of henrikb. Pours dark brown with a tan head taht dissipates quickly. Smells of chocolate, coffee, nuts, yogurt and hints of vanilla. Tastes of chocolate, coffee, pepper and somewhat nutty. Some raisin hints emerge as the beer warms. Mouthfeel is somewhat thick with a finish that features coffee and sugar prominently. voota (761), Melbourne, Australia
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 25, 2007 Deep clear crimson with a creamy brown head. Aroma of spicy hops (must be the boiled chinook), coffee, toffee and some plummy fruits. Full body with a great smooth carbonation. Flavour is very hoppy, almost tastes like cascade hops, otherwise there is a great mocha flavour and some fruity esters. Warming malty finish, suprisingly lacking the hoppiness in the aroma. Very nice but too expensive to buy all the time. moejuck (1165), Ohio, USA
