Dec 5, 2004 A red-brown beer with a brown head. The aroma is sweet and spicy especially with notes of cloves. The flavor is also sweet spicy with cloves and chocolate standing out as the most dominant.

Sep 27, 2007 (Bottle 50 cl) Vintage 2004. Pours a hazy, dark brown with a small, beige head that dissipates in no time. Aroma of dried fruit and vintage port. Quite full-bodied, a little low in carbonation with sweetish, roasted malt, dried and overripe fruit, vanilla and port accents and a whiff of coffee. Dry, lightly hoppy finish. Excellent - this really has aged gracefully. 240907

Mar 1, 2005 Updated: Apr 27, 2005Bottled. Very dark brown. Aroma of chocolate and oranges. Roasty, sweet and really rich. with clean mouthfeel. Dark chocolate dominates. Salty aromatic finish. An excellent, complex, warming christmas beer!

Jan 25, 2008 50 cL bottle. Pours dark brown to black and with a dense and huge tan head. Aroma is solid pine needle and spiced with a slight orasted chocolate note. Sweet, roasted malt, smooth chocolate ad solid pine flavour. Solid bitterness into the finish alongside a smooth roasted chocolate note. Has a slight sharp herbal edge before the finish...and yes this goes fantastic with cheese.

Jan 6, 2007 Bottle. Dark red / brown color with a large good lacing brown head. Aroma is heavy malty, hoppy, roadsted, dark chocolate, alcohol, smoky notes. Flavor is heavy and complex but in a very nice balance of sweetness and bitternes some notes of alcoholic.

Nov 11, 2005 Bottle. Very nice hop aroma. Very dark brown colour, small head. The flavour is not as interesting as the aroma suggests. Quite dry and not so peppery. Low carbonation.

Nov 3, 2006 Bottled. Pitch black colour, big brown head. Aroma is caramel, spices with slightly roasted malts and alcoholic notes. Flavour is roasted malts with some caramel and licorace. Spices become present after the roastiness and caramel vanishes. Pleasant and smooth, but it does feel "quite" standard compared to a few of the other Xmas theme beers from Nøgne Ø. Hides the alcohol very well.

Powerful aftertaste with notes of hops and chocolate.
