Pours very dark brown with a sturdy tan head. The aroma has heavily roasted malt, coffee-esque bitterness that is very dark and dry, brown sugar traits offering some sweetness as well as some molasses. This comes across as a jacked up american brown ale. Medium / full body that’s smooth with semi-soft carbonation. The flavor starts of like the aroma and is very full, rich and lush with the flavors. The finish has lots of spice (mainly pepper and cinnamon) and a clean roastiness. A very well done beer that I’d get a lot more often if the price was a bit lower. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 7, 2009 500 ml bottle. This bottle pretty much redefined the word ’gusher’ for me. Between the time I popped the cap and got a glass, there was a big brown puddle surrounding it on on the counter. I put the bottle in the sink, and by the time I cleaned the counter roughly a third of the contents had foamed out. The part I got to try was great! Snojerk321 (2021), San Diego, California, USA

Nice stringy lacing. Smells like a nice Porter. Aroma is a lightly roasted malt, light chocolate, and earthy hops. Flavor is much of the same. Alcohol is noticeable in the finish and slightly dry. Aroma, caramel, chocolate, and some roasted notes, a bit nutty. Flavor, caramel, coffee, chocolate, roasted malts, some more nuts, and a bit of spicing. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 2, 2009 Pour basically black with a tan head. Smell is rich, bittersweet malt, cocoa. Taste is similar and more like a thin bodied porter with an added very subtle, but well blended spice component. More chocolatey and dark with a faint spice perhaps. This is actually very enjoyable. Some definite sweetness, but it is a bit bitter and dry enough in the finish to make it easily drinkable. One of the better beers from them, actually and not a style I typically am crazy for.
