Commercial Description:
In the US this is called "Winter Ale".

A dark ale brewed specially for the Christmas season, with a rich, complex taste of caramel. This is a strong, dark and rather sweet Christmas Beer – just the way we think a Christmas beer should be.

Recommended serving temperature 12°C/53°F. Great with cheese or nuts. Ingredients: Lager, Munich, caramel, black, and chocolate malt; Chinook, Columbus, and Centennial hops; English ale yeast, and our local Grimstad water.

19°P, 30 IBU, 8.5 % ABV.

Dense black with burgundy shades. A charminginly drinkable but still substantial brew. Aromas of whiskey, brown sugar, caramel. Tastes of chocolate, plum, flutters of port and rum. Smooth and rich palate with just the right touch of carbonated edge. Falling between the cracks classification, but doing it with a lot of style and grace.

First things first, I was very surprised by how dark this one poured. A very dark brown as you pour, it glows with a cloudy ruby color when held to the light. It appears very dense as it pours as well. Some roasted coffee in the nose that gives way to loads of caramel and toffee. Mild hop bitterness in this one but it’s mostly a lovely caramel mocha slice of liquid heaven. This one’s gonna warm me all freaking winter long.

Batch 175, brewed on 080805; best before 080808(?). Late in drinking this bottle from SecretSanta. Clear mahoganey body. Light tan thin creamy head. Nice look. Sweet rich malty aroma, chocolate. Cherry licorice, raisins... very interesting aroma. Complexities abound! Flavor is dark.. dark fruit, dark malt, slightly roasted finish with a hint of nuts... banana nut bread... some peaty scotish ale type of thing. After a while picking up some bourbony alcohol hints. Good overall... probably hard to drink a whole bottle myself.

Pours deep black with thin tan head. Wonderful nose of dark chocolate, vanilla and alcohol. Flavor is coffee, chocolate, and a touch of smoke. Very nice.

Bottled. Black color, much dense and mellow one. Much lively nut haed; optimal fullness and resistance. Extremely alcoholic and flowery scent with decided vinous and stum notes. Dense, harmonious, solid and perfumed taste. Notes of smoked wood, red eged wine and floral final.
Thanks to mabjork for this beer.

This is my favorite Christmas beer from these guys. Dark brown color, milk chocolate, caramel. Sweet full bodied malty chocolatey mouth with christmas spices with a touch of nuttiness. Mildly sour, dry finish that somewhat tasted like beer mxed with scope.
