Commercial Description:
In the US this is called "Winter Ale".

A dark ale brewed specially for the Christmas season, with a rich, complex taste of caramel. This is a strong, dark and rather sweet Christmas Beer – just the way we think a Christmas beer should be.

Recommended serving temperature 12°C/53°F. Great with cheese or nuts. Ingredients: Lager, Munich, caramel, black, and chocolate malt; Chinook, Columbus, and Centennial hops; English ale yeast, and our local Grimstad water.

19°P, 30 IBU, 8.5 % ABV.

Bottle... Very dark, cola-colored ale with a mid-sized, frothy, khaki head. Decent retention. Chocolate and cola aromas. Rich, chocolaty malt flavor with adequate bitterness and deeply roasted notes. Balanced almost perfectly... neither sweet nor overly hopped. Full-bodied and silky with reticent carbonation. Dark, chocolaty finish. Huge KUDOS to marsiblursi for boxing this one up and floating it across the Atlantic!

courtesy of oh6gdx - opaque dark ruby-brown colour with a fine and stable beige head; beautiful lace; a bit toasty, rich aroma of prunes, honey and some undefined spices; sweet and clean mouthfeel, good malt backbone; slightly salty and bitter with a long dry aftertaste of dark chocolate and spices - a superb beer which invites to meditation

Nearly black beer, reddish shine; medium amber-crème head. Creamy-vanilla nose, liquorice. Very stout-like, liquorice, finish more bitter than slight sweet-sourish main taste. The vanilla here shows its oakwood origins. Ends sweeter, warming up, getting a bit Cola-like, and also getting more and more clovey. Well-bodied, warming but alcohol not obvious. Good, but severe Christmas ale. Doesn’t fall in the spicey "Underlig" trap.

Hazy deep brown beer with a foamy light brown head. Light roasted malty aroma with hints of liqourice and coffee. Roasted malty flavor with a faint chocolate sweetness and a light bitterness towards the finish.

Bottle courtesy of henrikb. Pours dark brown with a tan head taht dissipates quickly. Smells of chocolate, coffee, nuts, yogurt and hints of vanilla. Tastes of chocolate, coffee, pepper and somewhat nutty. Some raisin hints emerge as the beer warms. Mouthfeel is somewhat thick with a finish that features coffee and sugar prominently.

Bottled: Burgundy red coloured. Light brown dense head. Spices (cinnamon, cloves), fruit, alcahol, light yeast in the aroma. Loads of spices and liqourice in the flaovur. Light roasted with fruity notes and a nice sweetness. Is very smooth and balanced. A really treat to drink. Is fruity and spiced in the end with a light alcaholundertone.
