Commercial Description:
In the US this is called "Winter Ale".

A dark ale brewed specially for the Christmas season, with a rich, complex taste of caramel. This is a strong, dark and rather sweet Christmas Beer – just the way we think a Christmas beer should be.

Recommended serving temperature 12°C/53°F. Great with cheese or nuts. Ingredients: Lager, Munich, caramel, black, and chocolate malt; Chinook, Columbus, and Centennial hops; English ale yeast, and our local Grimstad water.

19°P, 30 IBU, 8.5 % ABV.

Bottle. Pours a dark brown color with a light tan head. Roasted malt aroma with some light spice and some caramel. I gotta say. I love Nogne beers. Very complex taste with some roasted malt, chocolate, and a light chocolate presence. Very good beer for the holidays. Bought for the holiday party I went too!

Poured a brown color with small head and weak lacing. Aroma was chocolate and nutty. Flavor was was much the same, very nutty and chocolate. Some was a little off, some sort of bite there that is nasty.

Bottle thanks to the Perfect 10 trade. Pours dark chestnut color with a light hazy head. Heavy aroma with minerals, maple and molasses. The flavor is immediately bitter with caramel and hints of unsweet chocolate. Notes of dark fruit are there but take a while to be noticed. Some semi-sweet notes an the finish. Dry finish with a full body. Good, but lacking the power and depth of my favorite American strong’s.

Dark brown to black with tanned lacing head. Burned malty aroma with salty liquorice and citric spices. Flavor is burned malts, liquorice, slight chocolate, coffee and quite strong spices. Smoothly bitter coffeeish finish. Medium to full bodied, smooth palate. Viciously burned and spicy but still extremely drinkable.

Bottle picked up at BevMo in San Fran for 2 bucks cheaper than I’ve ever seen a Nogne O here in Oregon. Pours dark brown with a small tan head. Smells heavily of caramel, toffee and some nuttiness. Very nice flavor of chocolate, caramel and some nice citrus hop backing. Very solid beer, would love to get some more of their stuff if it wasn’t so overpriced.

Bottle. Winter Ale label. Pours pitch black with a huge, very frothy tan head. Woody, malt aroma with some chocolate and prunes. Smoked malt flavors with some decent bitterness. Spicy and fruity. Chocolate , coffee and tobacco notes. Exceptionally dry finish.

"Winter Ale" bottle. Deep brown, nearly opaque pour with a frothy, cascading tan head. Molasses hits you right in the nose. Some roasted malt, earthy spice, and instant cocoa as well. Smooth taste of molasses, but blended nicely with the caramel and chocolate malt. The hops give it a porter-like balance, as well as a spiced quality. This is exactly what I want out of a winter warmer.

500 ml bottle, bought in Cracked Kettle, Amsterdam.
Deepdeep brown body with a fantastic creamy and foamy head. Pleasant aroma with dark chocolate, cocoa, deep roasted malt and toasted caramel, some vanilla. Fine mouthfeel, oily texture. Interesting and rich flavor of roasted grains, bit of chocolate and tobacco, some coffee and toffee, nice fruity tastes like raisins and plum. Plus a freaky hop character. Sweet liqueric and roasted aftertaste. Exciting one!
