Commercial Description:
In the US this is called "Winter Ale".

A dark ale brewed specially for the Christmas season, with a rich, complex taste of caramel. This is a strong, dark and rather sweet Christmas Beer – just the way we think a Christmas beer should be.

Recommended serving temperature 12°C/53°F. Great with cheese or nuts. Ingredients: Lager, Munich, caramel, black, and chocolate malt; Chinook, Columbus, and Centennial hops; English ale yeast, and our local Grimstad water.

19°P, 30 IBU, 8.5 % ABV.

12 oz bottle from jrob_21. gorgeous-looking liquid, a ruby so deep as almost to be black. sticky beige head of miniscule bubbles which cling to the glass. rich caramel and oaky aroma, clean old ale scents of sugar, dark fruits, walnuts. full body of those flavors - balanced and slightly sweet, and little-to-no alcohol heat. excellent beer, thanks jonathan!

Pure choco goodness. Chocolate aroma, strong dark licorice. Pours opaque black, tan head. Roastiness, chocolate and that licorice again. Somewhat astringent finish. Body is thin. An enjoyable pint.

This guy is a keeper, and a horrible monster who would darken my Christmas if I ever drank it during that holiday. Thick like cough syrup, and dark enough that people with coughs would begin leaping out of windows if this was the only remedy. Would be a porter if it wasn’t so impossibly sweet - thick with date syrup and brown sugar. Heavy on charcoal and dark nutmeg.

Poured from a 500ml bottle labeled as Winter Ale and served in a snifter. This beer poured muddy dark brown with some caramel highlights and a thick, lasting cap of tan foam. Excellent lacing. Looks delicious sitting in the snifter. The aroma consisted of cocoa, raisins, plums, and some light hoppy citrus notes. The flavor was rich and malty and included caramel, chocolate, pine, oranges, and also some dark fruits. Tons of flavor going on here. Layered and complex. The mouthfeel was full-bodied and had a moderate amount of aggressive carbonation. Malty and full of American hops. A well executed winter warmer.

Pours dark with a tan head, lots of head. Goes down very smooth with a ton of flavor. Lots of caramel and malts! Excellent brew.

Bottle (labeled "Winter Ale"). Pored a deep dark black-brown with a disappearing cream head. The dark color was surprising for a Christmas Ale (not as much if you read the description). Nose is cinnamon, chocolate, caramel, and hops. Wonderful smell as your nose pages through the tones. Flavors of caramel and malts. Mouth is a little thin and flat. Over all an above average holiday beer. Perhaps the flavors would of been a little better fresher.
