Commercial Description:
In the US this is called "Winter Ale".

A dark ale brewed specially for the Christmas season, with a rich, complex taste of caramel. This is a strong, dark and rather sweet Christmas Beer – just the way we think a Christmas beer should be.

Recommended serving temperature 12°C/53°F. Great with cheese or nuts. Ingredients: Lager, Munich, caramel, black, and chocolate malt; Chinook, Columbus, and Centennial hops; English ale yeast, and our local Grimstad water.

19°P, 30 IBU, 8.5 % ABV.

Fab, man, fab! Really interesting play on characteristics. Poured with a big foamy frothy tan head with lots a lace. Very dark brown. Sweet yet dry; luscious yet stark, and bittersweet even so. Lots of bitter chocolate, coffee, dark ripe fruit, heavy hops. Lots going on here. Superb beer. Long finish. Not a session beer. But that’s ok.

Pours a dark brown tha is still penetrated by light and a light brown head. Aroma was of a little peatiness , malt, and maybe some light spicing. Flavor finished nice and dry and had a light roastiness.

Bottle. Dark brown/black color with a creamy beige head. Aroma: Roasted malt, christmas spices, toffee, caramel, vanila and bitter hops. Flavor: Roasted malt, christmas spices, alcohol, coffee, toffee, nuts, chocolate, coca cola?, and bitter hops. Creamy, but also dry mouthfeel. High quality christmas beer.

This was quite possibly my favorite christmas beer. Brown color with a tan head. Some sweetness of chocolate and caramel, a bit of fruit and a bit of spice. Quite a bit going on here, great mouth-feel with chocolate, lots of malts - roasted, chocolate - some caramel and toffee. Interesting and complex.

Picked this up at Five Points Bottle Shop in Athens, Georgia. I cannot remember how much I paid for it. VERY carbonated. I had to suck the foam from the bottle, booooooh! Nice head color; off-white in apperance. Actually has a nice black color with a nice tan head. This is a very good looking beer. Huge sweet barley wine-type style aroma. This beer is very sweet and very aromatic. I wish it had more hops, but just a very caramel sweet malt aroma. The beer is very pugent. Smooth palate. A very smooth beer. A huge sweet malt flavor. Slight buttery taste. This beer is pretty good, just expect a very sweet/malty taste.

16.9 oz bottle-Dark cola-like pour w/a slight off white head. Sweet, Belgian type aroma. Sweet flavor of candied sugar, caramel/toffee, some colander/spice. Solid winter type brew, pretty malty. I know I’m not drinking it @ the correct time of year to fully appreciate it but I still want to give this a fair rating. Long spiced finish; good brew.
