Alcohol and caramel strong on the aroma. Nice burnt sugar- caramel malty flavour. Slightly thin mid-palate, but finishes with a really rounded mouthfeel.

Bottle pours black with tan head. Aroma is leather and roasted malts. Has a full mouthfeel. Flavor is complex. Leather, dark roasted malts, currant, bread, coffee, and slight licorice flavor. Overall a really nice brew.

This was an expensive beer at 5.99 for 500ml but I figured since the Imperial Stout was so good, why the fuck not? It looks like a porter to me, brown with a cocoa colored head. It also smells like a porter, roasty. Mouthfeel is silky and smooth. Taste is a little cocoa, oats, everything about this beer screams porter to me. This actually has nothing in common with the winter warmers I have had, I feel fucking deceived. I understand that beer from Norway has to cost more being an import but unfortunately this one is not worth the price unless you like obscure Norwegian porters like some kind of fucking nerd. (bottle) Pours dark brown with a light tan head. Faint aroma of caramel and roast smells. Taste has some nice caramel sweetness which rounds out to a hoppy finish.

An American Strong Ale from Norway? Huh, lets see....Poured a very dark, dank brown forming an off white foam head which quickly dissipated. Really looking forward to this beer, as it is my first Nogne O beer. Aroma is of burnt prunes, malts, some pine resin, perhaps some chinese five spice. Flavour is of an exceptionally smooth ale. Another I would love to try on tap. I think American strong ales are a bit more hoppy, but this beer is still quite good and very close to the style. Thankyou our friends in Norway!

bottle 500ml #310 EXP 130912 murky dark brown. Rich dark malts nutty kick of hops left, coffee chocolate chocolate. Tickling mouth feel presents in aftertaste with yeast. Hazy memories same year tap version over spiced one. This is all what you need on Christmas.

The snowflakes on this Winter Ale bottle label were a slight departure from the stark Nøgne Ø bottles seen before. The beer came out dark brown, and formed a four finger thick beige head. The smell was a wonderful symphony of raisins, plum, chocolate, and hops. The taste was similar, and felt a little like biting into a chocolate coated rum raisin candy from a Christmas gift tin. The finish was a little astringent-roasty and presented some mouth drying hops. A bit small and coarse in the mouthfeel department. Another winner from the brewery that refuses to disappoint.

bottle - Totally opaque black color with medium sized tan head. Aroma is full of thick chewy malts, light roasty notes, fair amount of toasted caramel, fairly vinous, notes of plum, figs, raisens, very faint citrusy notes towards the conclusion of the aroma. Flavor is malty, somewhat roasty, notes of vanilla and oak, slightly creamy, touch of burbon. Finish is slightly sweet, but well balanced overall. When too cold, this demonstrated some metallic off notes, but these seem to totally dissapear once the beer warms and is allowed to breath a while. Overall a ver nice brew, very black and slightly roasty, but not really porter or stout like. Fiarly unique overall. and definitely good.
