Commercial Description:
In the US this is called "Winter Ale".

A dark ale brewed specially for the Christmas season, with a rich, complex taste of caramel. This is a strong, dark and rather sweet Christmas Beer – just the way we think a Christmas beer should be.

Recommended serving temperature 12°C/53°F. Great with cheese or nuts. Ingredients: Lager, Munich, caramel, black, and chocolate malt; Chinook, Columbus, and Centennial hops; English ale yeast, and our local Grimstad water.

19°P, 30 IBU, 8.5 % ABV.

Hard to really identify the aroma on this. Flavor is dominated by a sweet character, Also, not real easy to identify the flavor right now. Roasty, maybe some chocolate. Nice, but not their best. But not too over-spiced like most Christmas ales.

Amber/brown color, small offwhite head. Malty aroma with chocolate and cocoa. Malty chocolate flavor, vanilla notes and a bit roasted. Alcohol is well hidden, quite a mild and pleasant beer.

Pours a foamy brown head on a dark brown body. Lots of malt and spices in the aroma with notes of chocolate and a hint of alcohol. Malty flavor as well with quite a strong tone of alcohol. Caramel, orange and spices also and some bitterness in the finish. A typical Belgian style ale, not too innovative but well done.

Dark brown, murky and light blocking. Huge persistent, three-dimensional head of light tan. Rich caramel aroma, light date-nut bread. Sweet and full bodied. A big, all malt show here.show here.

Hazy deep brown beer with a foamy light brown head. Light roasted malty aroma with hints of liqourice and coffee. Roasted malty flavor with a faint chocolate sweetness and a light bitterness towards the finish.

bottled as winter ale. tall rocky dark tan head. body is blackish chestnut, opaque, and lighter brown at edges. aroma is roasted malt, roasted brazil nuts, and licorice. flavor is roasted licorice malt, some chocolate malt and faint dried fig. yes this tastes like a baltic porter, quite different than a typical winter ale but that’s ok. bitter roasty finish.

1pt .9oz bottle labeled Winter Ale. Poured a dark/deep reddish-brown color with a larged sized tan head. Aromas of bread, roast, chocolate, and I’m getting some spiciness. Tastes of roast, chocolate, dark fruits, caramel, and a trace of brown sugar. Alcohol well hidden. Interesting. When I dumped the last of the bottle in my glass, in came a bunch of large chunky floaters (or should I call them sinkers).
