| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Nov 7, 2009 Black and thick and pours with a full dark brown head. A thin foam of retention. The aroma is nice, it’s not over-powering or anything but is a very nice scent consisting of chocolate, charred malt, espresso with light cream. Roasty tasting but very smooth, soft, and creamy with a bitter edge in the finish. Lots of chocolate mocha and espresso picked up in the aroma shows in the flavor profile as well. There’s also subtle traces of licorice, molasses or a touch of dark fruit but there’s no mistaking the chocolate and espesso as the dominant flavors. Not the most complex Imperial Stout but it’s so well done I don’t really care.

Roasted aroma with notes of dark fruits and smoke. The flavour is sweetish roasted malt with some dark fruits, coffee, chocolate and bitterness. Smooth and balanced. Very nice imperial stout. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 23, 2009 500mL bottle. Pours a thick, opaque but clean black with a large, thick and persistent brown head. Aroma is pine, roasted malt, raisins and other dried fruit. Taste includes dark chocolate, coffee and heavily roasted malt. Hop bitterness is very well balanced, and the alcohol is well disguised. Medium carbonation, full bodied and very smooth, leading to a long finish of hop bitterness giving way to the dark malt flavours.
The suggested compliment of ice cream or dark chocolate is spot on. Leighton (302), New York, New York, USA

Aroma of deeply roasted malts, coffee beans and dark chocolate. Flavor is rich and profound, with heavy burnt malt character, mild bitter chocolate accents, and some dark fruit sweetness. Full-bodied and with medium carbonation, this beer is a bit chewy and a joy to drink slowly. Wonderful. bitterntwisted (12), Perth, Australia

Delightful coffee aroma, looks great in the glass - black with lovely choc-milk head! Quite fizzy, subtle choc. sweetness with a long coffee/bitter finish. As it warms the chocolate flavours become more pronounced. Extremely enjoyable!

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 10, 2009 A: This really is a beautiful beer. It pours black as night with a nice puffy espresso colored three finger head which settles down nicely to a nice pillow atop the beer. There is a good deal of bubbles rising too the top, and some lacing is left behind as it’s consumed.
S: Not real powerful but there is the smell of chocolate, coffee, and caramel in this malty masterpiece.
T: It starts out nice and malty with a strong taste of very dark chocolate. It finishes pretty bitter with the taste of dark roasted coffee, charcoal, and a hint of citrus showing thru. Wow this beer is hopped rather nicely for a stout (75 IBU). As it trails off down the throat there is a big puff of smokiness left behind with a sting of booze.
M: This is a thick full bodied beer. It has a nice smokiness and bitterness in the finish that seems to last which is really nice.
