Aromas of dark malt, chocolate and coffee. Tastes of roasted malt,semi-sweet chocolate, and coffee. Excellent balance on the malt and hops. This a traditional porter at it’s finest. Unfortunately, at $8.99 per bottle it will have to be an occasional treat. SRG (10), Reykjavik, Iceland

Bottle; deep black pour with smallish and diminishing off-white head. Bitter chocolate, sweet coffee, dried cherries and other dried fruits. A touch of creaminess, but none of that sour porter thing. Minor notes of peat and smoke. Tons of roasty malt and a noticeable hop presence. This is a huge beer, but quite drinkable. Fantastic. danielcurtis81 (885), San Diego, California, USA

Hey, if this is the porter, I can’t wait to taste the Imperial Stout because I hooked up several. This one had a wonderful palate, smooth as can be coffee/fruit/choco-flavor, and superb maltiness. This one’s an art, and it costs that to boot. Large, medium tan head. Pitch black, unpenetratable and shiny colour.
A bit closed on the nose at first, but opens up after a while in the glass and the temperature rises a bit. Aromas of dark malts, raisins, chocolate, toffee and coffee with floral notes and hints of red berries and banana.
Medium to full bodied and smooth on the palate with good, fine bubbled mousse. The coffee is more pronounced in the taste than on the nose. Finishes with a long, fresh, grainy bitter afertaste.
Well balanced. Powerful, but still elegant. Wonderful porter! DTM (541), Winters, California, USA
