DrDavid (957), Johnson, Vermont, USA Sep 22, 2008 (Bottle). Aroma is slightly hoppy, some coffee and citrus. Black, with gargantuan thick fluffy brown head. Delicious flavor profile.....chocolate, malt, caramel, a touch of roastiness. Lengthy bitter finish. Wonderfully delicious. Naka (524), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 14, 2008 Pours dark black color with a thick foamy beige head that disappears after a few seconds. The aroma is a sweet brown sugar and raisin with some whiskey notes to it. Has a deep malty coffee flavor with an almost bourbon aged flavor to it. I’m not sure if it is. The body is pretty creamy. As it warms, the coffee flavors come out more. It leaves a nice chocolaty bitter in the finish. An excellent porter. stouby (1931), Holbaek, Denmark Sep 14, 2008 Cask at EBF 2008.

Moderate nutty and roasty aroma, mild chocolate background notes. Taste is a mix of roast and chocolate, light coffee, the roast is on the sweeter side. Well balanced and quality. tgncc (796), Bellmore, New York, USA Sep 9, 2008 Aroma of roasted coffe, and dark, sweet fruit. The apopearance is dark brown, with a purple tinge. The flavor is roasty to be sure, but with a steady component of fruity sweetness. The surprise here is the finish, it has a nice bite from hops which didn’t make themselves evident previously. Great porter. Allen (1282), Switzerland Sep 3, 2008 Bottled 50cl. It pours a pitch black beer with a full beige head. Good head retention. Some nice lacework. Sweet nose which is mainly of pumpernickel and roasted malt accompanied by grapefruit. The taste is of roasted malt, pumpernickel and rose. Sweet. Some tar and licorice showing up. Good bitterness. Nicely balanced. The finish is rather pleasant with hints of pumpernickel, grapefruit, syrup and rose. Thanks a lot larsga for this beer!
