In nose licorice and roasted malts. Medium bodied. It tastes like licorice, bitter chocolate and roasted malts. I thought it would be more complex but pretty good porter. darn1207 (547), Tallahassee, Florida, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Sep 26, 2008 bottle. deep brown pour with a big fizzy tan head that never goes away completely. sweet coffee, bread and milk smells. little thinner than I was expecting (for some unknown reason) - but still had a chewy quality to it. tastes of dark fruits, toasted malts, dark chocolate and soy. interesting. not sure I’ve had a porter like this before. probably more complex than any I’ve had before - but maybe wouldn’t be dying to try again. The aroma is a sweet brown sugar and raisin with some whiskey notes to it. Has a deep malty coffee flavor with an almost bourbon aged flavor to it. I’m not sure if it is. The body is pretty creamy. As it warms, the coffee flavors come out more. It leaves a nice chocolaty bitter in the finish. An excellent porter. stouby (1937), Holbaek, Denmark
