| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | May 24, 2008 BOTTLE: served cool. Dark with nice quick head. Aroma is definitely fruity and enticing but not very strong. Flavor is unexpected fruitiness combined with the coffee and dark malt, with a bitter finish. A most surprising porter with features unlike any other I’ve had. Palate is nice and medium length. beachbum25 (783), Powellville, Maryland, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 19, 2008 50 Cl Bottle-Black pour w/a trace of Mahogany. Moderate tan head. Standard porter flavor, maybe a little more coffee than anything else, a little light on the chocolate. Had a little bite to it, I prefer mine a little smoother. Mouthfeel was kind of thin. Solid brew, but I was honestly a little disapointed what with all the buzz on these beers. DrBayern (1135), Morehead City, North Carolina, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | May 19, 2008 50 cl bottle on 5/19/08. Dark brown with mahogany highlights and a large, creamy, and persistent light tan head. Inviting coffee and chocolate aroma accented with roasted nuts and a bit of earthiness. Medium to full body and light carbonation match up well with a creamy smooth mouthfeel.
Molasses sweetness subsides slowly, ultimately giving way to a gentle spicy bitterness. Wonderful balance in this fine porter. Very drinkable, highly recommended. dkachur (2351), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | May 17, 2008 Bottle from somewhere in North Carolina. Pours cola brown with a medium head. Good retention, moderate lacing. Nice roasty, mocha aroma. Taste is a little lighter than I expected, but what is there is good... roasted malt, coffee, nuts. Creamy feel. espenra (282), Oslo, Norway
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 17, 2008 50cl bottle from Vinmonopolet, batch 269. It poured a black body with a dark creamy head that vanished very quickly. It tastes of coffee, toffee, apples and raisins. It expands in your mouth and the aftertaste lasts a long time. | 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | May 1, 2008 Pours a deep opaque dark brown color with a medium tan creamy head. Nose is pleasant with lots of coffee character, chocolate and black malt. IMouth feel is thin and light. Initial taste creamy coffee ice cream persay. Melts in your mouth coffee. Mildly hopped that balances well. Deep richness of the black malt giving off that mild burnt taste with chocolate malt hindering in. Finishing with the continuing coffee and black malt. Average palate duration. Head retention is good with thick sheets of the lacing that slaps the walls of the glass beautifully. Light to medium body and very easy drinking. Simple but delicious. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 29, 2008 Poured a very dark brown with a tan head. Aroma is mostly of coffee and some caramel. Taste is also mainly coffee but a bit watery for my expectations. Vas19 (299), Maryland, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Apr 29, 2008 Pours black with a creamy tan head. Nice aroma of coffee and roasted malt. Good roasted coffee flavor that lingers nicely. A little too weak on the body in my opinion. Really close to being great but not quite there.
