Apr 17, 2008 50 cL bottle. Pours black with a dense light brown head. Roasted malt and chocolate aroma. Promise of a roasted and hops bitter flavour. Flavour is mild tar, light smoked, roasted malt and smooth chocolate following. Very smooth with liqourice added along the way. Light roasted bitterness following into a chocolate and roasted malt bitter finish. Very nice. One of the pre-RB beers I finally get to rate. Perfect for boiling vegetables in the owen, carrots for instance. Seriously!

Apr 12, 2008 Pour was jet black with minimal head and lacing. Nice aroma of chocolate and roast with vinous notes. The flavor was rich chocolate and dark fruits with hints of roast and coffee. Really nice thick milkshake like mouthfeel. This was quite enjoyable, even if I had to sell my kids off for medical experimentation to pay for the bottle.

aroma: smokeyness, wet dog, rich black malts. app: black! yum flavor: very smokey, a lil burnt. rich nice not to bitter. clean finish. lotsa smoke. palate: to thin. OA: its good, not great. i wanted more richness less sour/smoke

Apr 7, 2008 16.9oz bottle. On point stuff. The aroma is spot on, chocolate and roasted malt scents all the way. Deep opaque black color. The malt character just shines with this beer. Super well-balanced and full bodied porter, while remaining completely drinkable. Chewy and big, one of the best porters out there.

Pours black with slight brown edges. A big, dense, creamy, light-brown head. Great duration. Aroma is sweet, good chocolate, some roastiness. Softly carbonated with a general nice creaminess - but seems a little thin. Flavour has lots of sweet, fat chocolate with a good roasted coffe note in the aftertaste. Some bitterness as well. Good porter!

Apr 5, 2008 bottle from west lakeview......pours dark brown with reddish brown edges. very thin soapy beige head.... aroma of roasted chocolate malt and maybe a little dark fruit but very little.... flavors of smoky chocolate malt with medium carbonation and body....i don’t have a whole lot to say about this one i’m afraid....not a bad porter but far from being a special one.

Apr 3, 2008 Very black. Aroma is quite normal, a bit malty. The flavor is strong at first with some hops in the finish. A basic porter i.e. very drinkable.

Mar 24, 2008 Pours a pitch black with a brown foam head with poor retention and some lacing with a wonderful chocolate aroma. Tastes dry and quite reserved, light notes of smoke, good hoppiness, warm and dry with an astringent, woody finish. Creamy but pinched (thin) body, passable carbonation. Very subtle, pleasant beer, well executed but not too adventurous.
