Zinister (1198), Houston, Texas, USA Feb 29, 2008 Dark brown pour with a thick tan head. Big coffee aromas, along with hops. Flavor is licorice, coffee and roasted malts. Very enjoyable. hotstuff (3175), Indiana, USA Feb 29, 2008 Bottle at patrick767 gathering. Small tan head that mostly diminished, no lacing, opaque, very little carbonation, and a black hue. Nose was malty, caramel, roasty and hoppy. Flavor was malty, roasty, coffee, and some dried fruit. Smooth mouthfeel and medium body. Very quaffable, definitely worthy of a try and I would definitely drink this one again if it were to come my way. Quite tasty indeed and nicely done. toukopouko (31), Salo, Finland Feb 27, 2008 Opaque black with a generous tan head. A strong aroma of coffee, roasted malt and chocolate. Medium bodied, slightly oil-like feel - and look, hehe - to it. Roasted malt, dark chocolate, coffee and liquorice appear in the taste. A pleasant porter - tried it with cheese as they advised, s’good! CP (124), USA Feb 26, 2008 Extremely well crafted brew. Not a very strong aroma but taste hints of chocolate, berries, roasted nuts with a slight carbonation. Not of the flavors are right up front and very balanced. No Alcohol in sight here. Very good. Looking forward to the Nogne Imperial Stout. gunhaver (1024), Tampa, Florida, USA Feb 24, 2008 Updated: Jun 5, 2008Bottle. Pours a pitch black color, with very prominent marshmallow-like tan head. Leaves tons of gorgeous lacing. An awesome beer just to stare at and appreciate. Aroma has some soft malts, licorice, caramel, and a nice underlying roasty quality. Rich sugars and fruits in the flavor; some caramel, roasted coffee, dry molasses. Pretty good. Smooth and velvet-like body. Incredibly easy to drink. nhorween (639), Chicago, Illinois, USA Feb 24, 2008 Bottle. Coffee colored pour with a tan head. Malty aroma - roasty, smoky, nuts, light wood. Really well balanced flavor - hops and good roasted malt character. Great palate. Overall, one of the better porters that I’ve had. polomagnifico (532), Saginaw, Michigan, USA Feb 23, 2008 bottle. Aroma has notes of resin hops, roasted malt, and yeast. Above average sized tan head that mostly diminished and left no lace. Black hue. Flavor has caramel, coffee, chocolate, and yeast. Palate is medium bodied and smooth. A little off in places but average. SuzyGreenberg (1318), Seattle, Washington, USA Feb 23, 2008 bottle - pours jet black with some thickness and chocolaty head; aromas of grain, dates and some coffee; decent body that’s well above the all to common watery porter; drinks with flavors of coffee and molasses; very nice
