Mar 9, 2008 Updated: Apr 18, 2008Thanks to zeke626 for sharing. The beer was opaque black/brown almost motor oilish, generous amount of light brown head. Mild hops and faint chocolate malt were present in the aroma. I tasted fairly bold burnt malt (but not charred) with the faint presence of sugar and alcohol. The hops were almost non-existent. As it warmed I began to get more alcohol and the taste of sweet dark fruit at the start of the beer. Smooth, not too heavy on the palate. A very solid porter!

Mar 8, 2008 Bottle. About one year old from cellar. Pours beautiful plum black with smallish light brown head. Aroma: Coffee, dark fruits, roasted malts yum! Wonderful creamy texture with light carbonation on the back of my tongue. Bitter hop finish.

Mar 8, 2008 500ml bottle, 28th Feb 2008. Pours pure black with a tan head. Aroma of medicinal herbs and toasted malt, with coffee and fruity hints. Great aroma of dark roasted malt, camphor, salty liquorice and bitter chocolate and coffee. Perfectly smooth as it goes down. Great stuff!

Feb 29, 2008 Poured black with a dark brown head. Aroma - Coffee, malt and dark fruit. A lot of dark chocolate up front with some dark fruits - raisins and plums - notes of roast malt, coffeee and a touch of bitterness.

Feb 29, 2008 Dark brown pour with a thick tan head. Big coffee aromas, along with hops. Flavor is licorice, coffee and roasted malts. Very enjoyable.

Feb 29, 2008 Bottle at patrick767 gathering. Small tan head that mostly diminished, no lacing, opaque, very little carbonation, and a black hue. Nose was malty, caramel, roasty and hoppy. Flavor was malty, roasty, coffee, and some dried fruit. Smooth mouthfeel and medium body. Very quaffable, definitely worthy of a try and I would definitely drink this one again if it were to come my way. Quite tasty indeed and nicely done.

Feb 27, 2008 Opaque black with a generous tan head. A strong aroma of coffee, roasted malt and chocolate. Medium bodied, slightly oil-like feel - and look, hehe - to it. Roasted malt, dark chocolate, coffee and liquorice appear in the taste. A pleasant porter - tried it with cheese as they advised, s’good!

Feb 26, 2008 Extremely well crafted brew. Not a very strong aroma but taste hints of chocolate, berries, roasted nuts with a slight carbonation. Not of the flavors are right up front and very balanced. No Alcohol in sight here. Very good. Looking forward to the Nogne Imperial Stout.
