jefcon (997), Arlington, Virginia, USA Feb 1, 2008 Pours a deep but discernable brown in color. Aromas of peat, berry, alcohol and bitter chocolate. Sharp at first, but pretty smooth on the palate. Slightly bitter finish. Flavors of good hops, cherry and strawberry, drying at the end. The water is a player in this beer, and I get some minerality from the yeast and water. thedm (3833), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA Feb 1, 2008 This bottled brew from Patrick767 at a rating party poured a head of bubbles that were and left behind a opaque no visible carbonation black colored body and a fair lacing. The aroma was brown malt mild hop and dark malt. The mouth feel was weakly tingly at the start mediumly tingly at the finish hoppy aftertaste. The flavor contained notes of dark malt and brown malt. A decent one that I would consider having again. bma4573 (136), Mechanicsville, Maryland, USA Jan 31, 2008 Poured a very dark brown, like your usual porter, with only a slight head. Smells like a fresh pot of coffee :-) loved it. Finish with a bit of a wood flavor. This is a really good porter. ketchepillar (475), Viña del Mar, Chile Jan 31, 2008 Gushed quite a bit when opened making me nervous. Beautiful beer. Charred, cherry, apples, woody alcohol. Very smooth, but almost a little too flat for my tastes, which is saying a lot, or perhaps it just seems so b/c it’s a little thin. Leaves a little bitter tingle on the front of the tongue. Lengthy, evolving finish. TrefwoordPunk (549), Leiden, Netherlands Jan 22, 2008 Bottle 50 cl. Pours completely black with a small tan head and a coffee-like roasted aroma. The taste is more like mocca than espresso, very roasted and not really smooth, but in a good way. A bit sweet, with a long bitter finish. Good, but not groundbreaking treadyroc (112), St. Leonard, Maryland, USA Jan 19, 2008 Pours very dark w/almost a ruby tint to the top. No noticeable aroma to speak of, but finishes cleaner than say a Gonzo. Not as thick, either; a much more even palate. Just a hint of sweet at the end. barleyPops (1079), Quad-Cities, Illinois, USA Jan 13, 2008 Pours a deep dark brown, near black, with little head and wisps of khaki lace. Aroma is chocolate, coffee and some roasted malts. Flavor is more of the same, but skewed a bit more towards the coffee and roast rather than the chocolate. A little on the thin side, but easy drinking and enjoyable. Cryotek (206), Pawtucket, Rhode Island, USA Jan 12, 2008 Black color with not much of a head. Very roasty burnt initial smell. Tastes very toasty, cappachino, coco, roasted malt. Light medium body, sweeter finish then start. A very nice porter.
