brianjames1 (322), Northridge, California, USA Oct 28, 2007 Excellent porter, probably one of the best porters i have ever had. Pours smooth and dark with small tan head very well balanced, roasted malts nice hint of hops and refreshing finish not as dry as most porters tend to be. iep (229), Amsterdam, Netherlands Oct 28, 2007 Fully opaque black body with a dense tan head. Lots of liquorice in the aroma, along with dark fruit, vanilla, chocolate and a pleasant roastedness. Lovely balance between fruityness, vanilla/liquorice and chocolate/espresso-roastedness in the taste. Smooth on the palate. A lush porter. OSLO (825), Perth, Australia Oct 28, 2007 [Bottle] Pours black with a light tan head. Aroma is roasted malt, coffee, alcohol, and raisins. Taste is coffee and roasted malt with a little fruitiness (perhaps raisin). Quite thin. Decent finish. Too thin for me, but the aroma is pretty good. NicerInPerson (337), North of Raleigh, North Carolina, USA Oct 26, 2007 The aroma was strong espresso roast and chocolate coupled with dark fruits, most notably raisins. Prunes were also present with a caramel undercurrent. The beer poured into the glass crystal clear black with a ruby highlight and a light brown head which lasted well to lace the glass. The flavor was caramel and chocolate with an espresso roasty component. The caramel kept the roasted malts at bay and the bittering in check. The chocolate and roast were smooth and well done. The finish was dry with lasting chocolate and roast into the aftertaste. The flavor contained some grassy hop bittering and flavor. The body was medium with a fairly low carbonation but a creamy texture on the palate. The body was medium-full and nicely done. A really nice porter, bigger than most and very easy to consume! 16.9 ounce bottle. LtJudge (431), Muskego, Wisconsin, USA Oct 25, 2007 Pours a deep brownish/black colorwith a small tan head.Aromas of coffee, roasted malts and chocolate and fruit (and maybe some hints of alcohol as well) Flavor matches aromas with hints of vanilla as well. Very smooth on the mouthfell. Leaves a nice chocolate/coffee flavor in your mouth. A wonderful porter!! nearbeer (1833), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Oct 22, 2007 Updated: Jan 31, 2009500 ml. Opaque brown-black, with a medium head. Chocolate coffee aroma. Flavor is cocoa, earthy wood, coffee and slight smoke. Medium body is roasty-dry and sometimes a bit too frothy. acertain (249), Seattle, Washington, USA Oct 19, 2007 Pours jet black with a moderate tan head. Aroma is intense, with chocolate, dark fruits and other malty/yeasty notes. In the mouth, it’s neither thick nor thin, with moderate carbonation. The flavors mimic the aromas, though it’s drier than I anticipated from the nose. Finishes on a coffee note. dchmela (1406), Orlando, Florida, USA Oct 19, 2007 Pours deep black with a small off white head. Aroma starts off with a huge espresso blast followed by chocolate malt and banana. Taste is silky smooth with a nice mouthful of coffee and chocolate malt. The carbonation is similar to soda when you roll it around in your mouth. Nice dry coffee like aftertaste. This is just a delicious beer and something that is a must try.
