| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 19, 2007 Pours jet black with a moderate tan head. Aroma is intense, with chocolate, dark fruits and other malty/yeasty notes. In the mouth, it’s neither thick nor thin, with moderate carbonation. The flavors mimic the aromas, though it’s drier than I anticipated from the nose. Finishes on a coffee note. dchmela (1426), Orlando, Florida, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 18/20 | Oct 19, 2007 Pours deep black with a small off white head. Aroma starts off with a huge espresso blast followed by chocolate malt and banana. Taste is silky smooth with a nice mouthful of coffee and chocolate malt. The carbonation is similar to soda when you roll it around in your mouth. Nice dry coffee like aftertaste. This is just a delicious beer and something that is a must try. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 16/20 | Oct 15, 2007 bottle- pours jet black, tan head, with some lacing. Had a nice roastyness, but not as smooth as I was hoping. there is a definite astringency here, found in a lot of impy stouts. I am not sure where it came from, but I did not enjoy it. Otherwise, the beer was very thick, filling, and enjoyable. thornecb (1753), Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Oct 10, 2007 Bottle from Beers of the World. Completely matte black pour with a really beautiful head of thick dense mocha cream. This is a nice looking porter. There is also some lacing on the glass that adds to its attractiveness. The aroma is surprisingly lacking. I can pick up some mild roast and some alcohol but not much else. The aroma is pretty weak. The flavor is a completely different story. The first sip told me I was going to like this beer, but as the first big mouthful roller over my tongue I am thinking more along the lines of love. The silky smooth body carries with it a delicate combination of creamy milk chocolate and some assertive but smooth and mild roast. It’s a big flavor but it weight lightly on the tongue. There are some traces of alcohol but all-in-all very good.
