Doggythedog (1541), Split, Croatia Sep 25, 2007 Bottle (batch no.262) shared with ozujsko, received in a trade with oh6gdx. Opaque black colour, cappuclino like tan head that went away slowly. The nose is almost all chicory with a hint of chocolate, and the taste isn’t far off; strong chicory, a weak note of chocolate, a touch of alcohol. Not extremely complex but still a nice porter. ratman197 (3137), Arvada, Colorado, USA Sep 22, 2007 500 ml bottle poured a nearly opaque blach with a brown tint and a small lastingtan head. Aromas of milk chocolate, vanilla, coffee and a hint of licorice. Palate was light bodied and smooth. Flavors of dark chocolate, roasted malt, coffee, light vanilla and a hint of licorice with a smooth lingering bittersweet finish. jobyone (234), Charlotte, USA Sep 20, 2007 Pours black with small light brown head. Red tinge when held up to light. Wonderful aroma of burnt caramel some smoke and chocolate. taste not quite as nice as the aroma but good nonetheless. no bitterness. Nice aftertaste with a dry texture and medium body. Very tasty indeed. egajdzis (3602), Spring Mount, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 16, 2007 Poured a deep. dark mahogany color with a medium sized, tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of chocolate malt, roast, nuts, ashy smoke, and some anise. Taste of more chocolate, roasted malts, and some dried fruits, with a creamy mouthfeel. emacgee (1859), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA Sep 16, 2007 Glad to see this in NC. Pours a dark black (really dark for a porter) and shows a little light around the edges. The head is medium, tan, creamy. The aroma shows roasted coffee and chocolate immediately, sweet, light alcohol. Malt predominant. The hops don’t show until you taste it and then only barely. Tastes sweet, some molasses/brown sugar, roasted chocolate and coffee again, light light alcohol, some mild hop bitterness at the back of the mouth. Smooth roasted palate that finishes nicely. Excellent porter. aubreya (676), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA Sep 16, 2007 The color was a deep chocolate brown. The head was creamy, light beige, and laced a little. The aroma was alcohol, roasty, coffee, very malty, and some chocolate. The appearance and aroma reminded me of a stout. The flavor was sweet, coffee, and roast. There was a dry waxyness at the back of the mouth. The palate was smooth and slightly carbonated. The finish was warm and roasty. Jmichael (633), Asheville, North Carolina, USA Sep 16, 2007 poured onto gueze/lambic glass. pours a dark black for a porter with high fluffy tan head. light mocha malty aroma. creamy full mouthfeel with mild finish. very smooth and good, milky with slight mocha finish. a good smooth porter, well balanced mouthfeel and well rounded, good stuff.... cmr1517 (35), New Haven, Indiana, USA Sep 14, 2007 pure black and tan head. smells of coffe and chocolate.
