austinpowers (2828), New York, New York, USA Aug 20, 2007 Really burnt and bitter. Not my thing, but loads of malt - it’s actually like a stout. hellbilly (1492), scottsdale über alles, Arizona, USA Aug 20, 2007 snuck this one on the plane back from vacation. aroma (through the huge pillowy head) of milk chocolate, roasted malts and light coffee. medium bodied with a creamy mouth feel (don’t know if i like that in a porter???). flavor is initially coffee and dark malts. as it warms, it develops some red wine characteristics nuttiness and some ashiness. leaves a burnt coffee flavor in my mouth. missing that bitter/acidic/bitey flavor in most porters....very smooth and creamy DYCSoccer17 (2187), Davis, California, USA Aug 19, 2007 16.9 ounce bottle purchased from Monument Wine and Liquors. Aroma is of cigarettes and ash trays. Some licorice notes and metallic aromas are also present. Eh, not overly appealing. Opaque black body with a frothy tan head. This is beautiful, but I have to give it a 4 because it was crazy overcarbonated and spilled over when I opened it. Astringent, carbonated start. Becomes a little roasted, burnt, and ashy in the middle. Some light licorice flavors are apparent later. A somewhat dry, hopped, bitter finish with some metallic flavors, too. altonbrownd (1862), Amsterdam, Netherlands Aug 19, 2007 Bottle at Trond’s house. Another quality product. Dark almost black liquid. Heavy and syrupy but oh so smooth. Creamy with chocolate, dark fruits, wheat and malt flavours. Really enjoyable porter. Quality blend of flavours. shp555 (1677), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Aug 17, 2007 Pours a black color with a light brown head. Aroma is malty, roasty, and chocolate. Flavor is malty, roasty, slightly smoky, and a hint of chocolate PorterPounder (3132), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Aug 11, 2007 Savannah, Ga. - Habersham Beverages, 500 ml bottle. Dark purple to black pour with an ever present mocha colored head. Strong aromo of ripening fruit, coffee and chocolate. Solid flavor with day old coffee, baker’s chocolate and plenty of potting soil. Thickish mouthfeel - just enough chalkiness and grit. Excellent Porter. nimbleprop (819), SouthWest, Washington, Washington DC, USA Aug 10, 2007 Left me start this by saying, I drank this immediately after drinking the Olfabrikken Porter, so needless to say, it came in second. Pours a watery opaque black with a slightly off white head that faded quickly. Smells of roasted malt, sugar and dark fruits. Flavor is malty, but not too roasted, toffee, oranges and more dark fruit. Finish is smooth but a little watery. Very drinkable and pleasant. Bradrcr (778), Renton, Washington, USA Aug 8, 2007 6/30/07 From the bottle at Seattle International Beerfest. Aroma is heavy roast malt forward with lots of dried red fruit. Appearance is dark borwin with a persistant tan head. Flavor is complex with nothing exceptionally dominant. Flavors are blended from bread, nuts, roast, light bittering hops and all the little components of each can be tasted. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carb feel. Overall, a very well made porter; the only thing I could abject to is that much of the complexity it too ’stouty’ for what I consider a porter to be.
