Dark purple to black pour with an ever present mocha colored head. Strong aromo of ripening fruit, coffee and chocolate. Solid flavor with day old coffee, baker’s chocolate and plenty of potting soil. Thickish mouthfeel - just enough chalkiness and grit. Excellent Porter. nimbleprop (844), SouthWest, Washington, Washington DC, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 10, 2007 Left me start this by saying, I drank this immediately after drinking the Olfabrikken Porter, so needless to say, it came in second. Pours a watery opaque black with a slightly off white head that faded quickly. Smells of roasted malt, sugar and dark fruits. Flavor is malty, but not too roasted, toffee, oranges and more dark fruit. Finish is smooth but a little watery. Very drinkable and pleasant. Bradrcr (779), Renton, Washington, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 8, 2007 6/30/07 From the bottle at Seattle International Beerfest. Aroma is heavy roast malt forward with lots of dried red fruit. Appearance is dark borwin with a persistant tan head. Flavor is complex with nothing exceptionally dominant. Flavors are blended from bread, nuts, roast, light bittering hops and all the little components of each can be tasted. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carb feel. Overall, a very well made porter; the only thing I could abject to is that much of the complexity it too ’stouty’ for what I consider a porter to be. wunderbier (1266), Tampere, Finland
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 7, 2007 Updated: Feb 20, 2008Rerate on 20.02.2008. I enjoyed this beer a bit more this time around, but I’ve been more hesitant with the high numbers as of late so I think I’ll keep it where it is, numerically. I’m getting some vanilla-flavoured pipe tobacco and more cocoa powder than bar chocolate in this particular bottle. The malts seem more expansive as well. I ended up letting it sit for a while in my glass and that, of course, solved my carbonation complaint levelled in my earlier rating. Anyway, I could still deal with it being a little less acidic, but I’ll have no problems finishing this one. 50cl bottle, bbe 9/12/09.
Bottle, bbe 19.10.09. Rich black hue with a tan, creamy head. Fairly big aroma of chocolate, dates, raisins and espresso. Too a lesser degree, elements of coffee liquor, caramel, anise and cinnamon. Flavour begins moderately sweet, moderately acidic, lightly bitter and finishes moderately to lightly sweet, moderately acidic and moderately bitter. The flavour has some very pronounced cola-like elements and is not quite as smooth (acidity) as I expected based on the aroma. Medium-full body with an oily texture and lively carbonation. I wish the carbonation was a tad softer as well. Still, very solid. JPDIPSO (4884), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 4, 2007 Very dark brown color with a small lid of light tan bubbles. Small rings of lace help the looks. Fairly simple porter aromas. Toasted and roasted malt along with some dark chocolate. Hints of mocha lay underneath. A nice scent, but nothing more that what one should expect. Rich full feel. Again simple porter flavors, but the fact that nothing is amiss is a big bonus. Toasted malt mix with a light malt bitterness. Sweetness is heavy in the middle and actually lasts to the finish. Linger is dry with the black malt bitterness and a mild espresso bite. Well put together porter. shrubber85 (2876), Wallhalben, Germany

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 3, 2007 Very dark porter with light beige head. Aroma is very interesting (chocolate, licorize, fruits?). Flavor is very balanced and not too much burned. Quite easy to drink (surprise for me). Very good and interesting porter.
