rederic (1787), montréal, Quebec, Canada Apr 7, 2009 Dark pitch black color, with a tan colored head, roasted malt, black coffee nose with a dark chocolatey, roasted coffee bean accent, with a mild molasses, burnt dried dark fruity note of raisins, dates and plums, and a faint licorice spicy aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a yeasty, molasses, roasted malt, dark chocolate character, with a black coffee, faint mochaish flavor, with a hint of licorice spiciness and burnt fruitiness leading towards a fruity, chocolatey, lingering roasted bitterness finish. Adam77 (407), Eastampton, New Jersey, USA Apr 1, 2009 Roasted coffee and chocolate flavors. Really smooth. Dark brown pour with a brown head. joshwilfong (769), Cleveland, Ohio, USA Mar 31, 2009 pitch black with a very attractive thick and creamy white head. some hop and roasted notes to the nose. moderate mouthfeel. very nice flavor of some low crystal malt giving a nice sweetness with a lot of black patent character that makes the beer. some hop bitterrness comes through and maybe a little citrusy hop flavor from the American hops. a dry finish ends this very enjoyable robust porter. very good version heavy (815), Split, Croatia Mar 31, 2009 25/03 0.5 l bottle my friend brought from Trondheim, fala lipa Dijo! My first Norwegian beer, strange but true. It poured a black body, actually brown dark as hell, with small brown head, maybe the darkest I’ve seen on a beer! Coffee, caramel and some herbal spices dominate the aroma, but alcohol is felt as well. Fine flavor, dark malt shows up as a coffee with a bit of caramel. Slightly alcoholic. More subtle thing are starting to emerge while you drink it, as herbal spices and licorice, but I definitely miss some fruitiness to round it up, at least a little bit. Bitterish around the finish. Fine porter, but I still prefer our Tomislav to this. gunnar (486), Sandnes, Norway Mar 28, 2009 Bottle. Pours black with a generous beige frothy head. Aroma of dark chocolate, coffee, raisins. Roasted malt and cold coffee notes in the mouth, some bitterness towards the end. Well balanced and enjoyable markwise (1132), 15 Minutes from Kuhnhenn in, Florida, USA Mar 22, 2009 Thanks retorp for the share. Pours dark brown/ black with a nose of earthy coffee, dark fruit, vanilla, and some cherry?. Flavor is roasted malt, ripe dark fruit, coffee, bitter chicory, up through the finish. Very enjoyable porter that is medium-bodied and finishes clean and somewhat bitter. Great porter. sebletitje (1880), Tampa, Florida, USA Mar 22, 2009 courtesy of retorp
Pours black with beige head, some golden lacing.
Aroma malty, chocolate with light notes of coffee and dark raisins.
Taste was similar, chocolate malts, mild dark fruit presence, thick palate.
A fine porter. CaryTheDude (1113), Longmont, Colorado, USA Mar 1, 2009 Crushed with Jakebra. Dark, dark, dark pour with a big head. Definitely robust, which is how I like em. Roasty as hell. Some tobacco, some chocolate, plenty of awesomeness. One kickass porter.
