| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 23, 2007 In the bottle. Black with a dark brownish beige head that thins to a fine covering atop the beer. Milk chocolate and mild coffee, chicory and licorice aroma. Body is thin and a bit watery for the big aroma. Roasted malt and a mild splash of coffee flavor tossed in. This is a good porter, but not quite up to the high ratings it is getting here. larsga (2959), Oslo, Norway

Roasty coffeeish aroma with hoppy oily rye notes. Dry-sweetish taste, with an acidic edge, of burnt sooty rye with vaguely citric hop notes. Very harmonic and balanced. Full-bodied. Soft mouthfeel. Dry delicate burnt aftertaste with grainy chocolatey notes. Burnt notes linger. Very, very good and highly drinkable. Grew on me as I drank. (0.5l bottle, Wine monopoly, Oslo.)
