The flavor has elements of chocolate and coffee vying with the dark roast malt. Creamy, full bodied, and smooth, there’s a touch of bitterness in the finish. This is an excellent porter. thanks to bdigi66 for sharing this gem. charlotte (2029), Vanløse, Denmark

Flavor, chocolate with a very nice roasty bitterness, nice and smooth. With some coffee in the flavor as well. Might have been a bit on the thin side but was quite enjoyable. lb4lb (2011), Austin, Texas, USA

Smell is dry, roasty malt with some light dusty hops, and some chocolate comes through as it sits a bit. Taste is exceptional. Smooth, creamy mouthfeel and a somehow dry, cocoa flavor balanced perfectly with bittersweet dark roast. Finishes so smoothly and cleanly, leaving a hint of a pleasant aftertaste. Carbonation is spot on, and makes for a silky, creamy beer. Very, very drinkable. One of my favorite porters for sure. radiomgb (1985), Peterborough, Ontario, Canada
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 26, 2007 Black in colour, rich lingering tan coloured head, great lacing. The aroma is sweet and rich, dark chocolate, light liquorice, coffee and light alcohol. The flavour is of chocolate, quite sweet, lots of malt, roasty, nutty, some coffee. Sweet mouthfeel, medium body, medium/high carbonation. Finishes long, sweet with some alcohol heat. The sweetness starts to come through more than the roast as this start to warm up. Quite good and warming.

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 28, 2008 Bottle from South Bay Drugs. Opaque black with a medium tan head. Prominent roasty mocha nose, very nice. Mmmm very deep, roasty rich chocolaty flavor with the perfect amount of caramel sweetness underneath. Very well balanced with a little citrus hop note in there. Not astringent or bitter. The takeaway flavor is caramel chocolaty goodness. Alcohol content very well hidden. Doesn’t have a thick body like some stouts; more like classic medium/light porter body with soft carbonation. Very flavorful and drinkable. Highly recommended. fordest (1954), Santee/San Diego, California, USA

Lots of creamy tan head on this dark dark pour. Chocolate and coffee aromas. Flavors were similar with some burnt malt flavor and a decent hoppy finish. Very tasty.
