A black appearance with a tan head. A roasty aroma with some coffee, chocolate, and other dark fruit. The flavor is somewhat bitter with some dark chocolate, coffee, and licorice notes. Overall this was a good porter.

Bottle at RBESG Grand Tasting 05. Brown, small head. Strong Porter - very strong in fact. Smooth, with a crispy, fizzy finish. Some tonic water pleasantness. Excellent stuff.

375ml bottle LooseCannon was kind enough to split with me. Black as they come with a brown head.Toasty, chocolate cocoa like nose, a splash of coffee. Body is thick, seems a bit flat. Rich chocolate flavors, sweet, a hint of vanilla and a light floral bite. Very good!

This black ale poured with a frothy dark tan head that quickly diminished. This is a very chewy brew with a rich chocolate malt flavor and a coffee finish. Almost tastes like a dessert.

Glad to see this in NC. Pours a dark black (really dark for a porter) and shows a little light around the edges. The head is medium, tan, creamy. The aroma shows roasted coffee and chocolate immediately, sweet, light alcohol. Malt predominant. The hops don’t show until you taste it and then only barely. Tastes sweet, some molasses/brown sugar, roasted chocolate and coffee again, light light alcohol, some mild hop bitterness at the back of the mouth. Smooth roasted palate that finishes nicely. Excellent porter.
