Aroma of medicinal herbs and toasted malt, with coffee and fruity hints. Great aroma of dark roasted malt, camphor, salty liquorice and bitter chocolate and coffee. Perfectly smooth as it goes down. Great stuff! Strykzone (1496), Wood River, Illinois, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Oct 17, 2008 I have been looking for this beer for some time. Pours jet black with a nice but small tan head. Aroma is plums and dark chocolate. No roasted notes. Flavor does have some roasted malt, caramel, milk, black licorice, dark fruit, and coffee. Some nice hops as well. It is nicely carbonated and both the roasted coffee beans and the hops can be tasted in the aftertaste that is a sweet roasted tart flavor. I love a good porter and this is a good one. RCL (1492), Waltham, Massachusetts, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 6, 2007 Definitely get the coffee, not as much the dried fruits. More of a nuttiness, really. Damn tasty, but the palette seems just a bit thin to me for a porter. Dixen (1465), Flagstaff, Arizona, USA

| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 18/20 | Oct 19, 2007 Pours deep black with a small off white head. Aroma starts off with a huge espresso blast followed by chocolate malt and banana. Taste is silky smooth with a nice mouthful of coffee and chocolate malt. The carbonation is similar to soda when you roll it around in your mouth. Nice dry coffee like aftertaste. This is just a delicious beer and something that is a must try. | 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 4/5 | 20/20 | Dec 23, 2007 Pours midnight brown w/ a tall lasting froth. Even though this brew was right out of the fridge it managed to push up a ton of foam. Great effort. The lacing is sticky, lasting, and fluffy w/ a thick downy canopy. Aromas of roasted coffee and dusty Belgian malts. Full nectar w/ soft and oily residual effers. A big, chewy, mocha basted, gluttonous malt backbone w/ a forward roast component comprise the general disposition here. Dry as a bone w/ heavily roasted coffee bean, leather, degrated darkfruit skins. The finish is bittered well w/ a rather strong hop profile. This is a huge beer. Strong w/ a serious attitude. Drinks like molten dark chocolate. I’ll bet it will benefit from some serious aging. I’m gonna toss a few in the age basket. Highly recommended. Borresteijn (1439), Amsterdam, Netherlands
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 26, 2008 Bottle from Cracked Kettle. Dark brown/black colour, beige head. Aroma of coffee, chocolate and roasted malts, a bit musty. Flavour is bitter, roasted malts and strong coffee, some dark chocolate, slight sweetness. OK porter, but expected a bit more. drowland (1429), Tallahassee, Florida, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Sep 13, 2009 Bomber into a pint glass. Pours almost black but brown when held to the light with a huge dark brown head. Aroma is big coffee with some metal and lots of dark fruits. A couple more whiffs reveal nice hop character. The flavor is sweet and sour and ends with a nice combo 1-2 of dryness from hops and roasted malts. This reminds of a good stout in many ways. Quite tasty.
