This is quite a delicious porter actually, with a good amount of bitterness to balance out the gentle lactose sweetness. Allowed to warm up slightly before consuming (not to 50, but closer), as consumed additional aroma and flavor stood out more. Aroma of sweet chocolates, lightly roasted malts, touch of coffee. Flavor is a bold, dark and milk chocolate with light malts flavor, with notes of coffee hidden in the rear. Finish is a Bitter finish, dark chocolates. Lacks a bit the balance between nose and body, body is almost to powerful at least in comparison with the nose. Good (not great) beer. - - - - - - - Tasted blind at Sk8vikings amazing Porter/Stout tasting (5-4-6-3-13) - Black body, creamy small head; Quite small closed, a little metallic nose. With some brown sugar and very little dry hop; Big bubbled little creamy body, watery textured; Into quite long but very discrete watery finish, not a lot of aroma, mostly dry hop (like I could imagine hop the). Bouteille brune, 0,5 l, batch 232, embouteillé le 100206, meilleure avant 100209, acheté le 5 février 2007, savourée le 27 février 2007; oeil : mousse crémeuse abondante couleur café, noire, opaque, un peu de dentelle; nez : beau malt torréfié, chocolat à haute teneur en cacao, vanille; bouche : curieusement « smooth », donne même l’impression qu’elle sera plus mince que prévu, puis tout à coup apparttion impressionnante du malt torréfié, petite touche de vanille, chocolat noir, un peu de houblon, finale toute en torréfaction qui devient de plus en plus amère, légère astringence agréable, texture crémeuse, moyennement amère, légèrement âcre, on ne perçoit aucunement l’alcool, bonne carbonatation, corsée; en résumé : bien aimée
