Slightly bitter aroma with some roasted malt. Flavors of big roasted malt, coffee, and a faint frutiness on the finish. Tan head gives a creamy texture. Leaves a slightly sweet aftertaste. Borderingon stout size flavors but the body and thickness are lighter like a porter.

Brown bottle, 0,5 l, batch 232, bottled on 100206, best before 100209, savoured on February 26 février 2007; eye: voluminous creamy coffee-color head that turns into a blanket covering the beer, black, opaque, some lacing; nose: nice roasted malt, high-cocoa content chocolate, vanilla; mouth: in that order, surpisingly smooth giving the impression that the beer will be thinner, but suddenly impressive arrival of the roasted malt, a little vanilla, dark chocolate, a bit of hops, finale all in roasted malt that becomes more and more acrid but in a pleasant way, lightly astringent, creamy texture, mildly bitter, lightly acrid, the alcohol is totally hidden, good carbonation, full body; overall: quite enjoyable FRANÇAIS Bouteille brune, 0,5 l, batch 232, embouteillé le 100206, meilleure avant 100209, acheté le 5 février 2007, savourée le 27 février 2007; oeil : mousse crémeuse abondante couleur café, noire, opaque, un peu de dentelle; nez : beau malt torréfié, chocolat à haute teneur en cacao, vanille; bouche : curieusement « smooth », donne même l’impression qu’elle sera plus mince que prévu, puis tout à coup apparttion impressionnante du malt torréfié, petite touche de vanille, chocolat noir, un peu de houblon, finale toute en torréfaction qui devient de plus en plus amère, légère astringence agréable, texture crémeuse, moyennement amère, légèrement âcre, on ne perçoit aucunement l’alcool, bonne carbonatation, corsée; en résumé : bien aimée

500ml Bottle- Black in colour with a tan head. Liquorice and coffee featuring in the mildly alcoholic aroma. Aniseed and liquorice in the taste which is balanced with coffee and a very slight sour hint to the finish. Not bad at all.

Bottled. Beer is very dark warm brown, nearly opaque. Head is large, creamy, beige, frothy and diminishing. Seagulls on the snifter. The aroma is full, rich, strikes a nice balance between resinous hop and roasty malts. Malty with moderate-to-heavy notes of roasted grain, chocolate, moderate notes of molasses, coffee, light notes of toasted bread crust, creamy roasted nut butter; Moderate-to-heavy notes of resinious hop, lighter amounts of herb/thyme and grapefruit oil, traces of sweet tobacco; Light yeasty note of basement, trace of dough. Intermittent trace notes of woody vanilla, cola and tropical fruit. The flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter, trace acidic with a longish, warm, lightly bittersweet finish. The body is full, the texture is velvety and the carbonation is lively. Luxe in every repect.
