Pours dark brown/ black with a nose of earthy coffee, dark fruit, vanilla, and some cherry?. Flavor is roasted malt, ripe dark fruit, coffee, bitter chicory, up through the finish. Very enjoyable porter that is medium-bodied and finishes clean and somewhat bitter. Great porter. jcr (1177), Jasper, Indiana, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 15, 2008 Bottle. Black pour with ruby hightlights. Slowly diminishing tan head. Aroma displays malts — roasted grain, chocolate, nuts and a hint of hops, particuarly pine. Hints of chocolate and coffee. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. However, it finishes up moderately bitter and moderately acidic and leaves hints of smoked peat and roasted malts. Wonderful creamy texture and medium body. Lively carbonation. Smooth, clean, nicely bittered porter with pleasant, somewhat complex aroma and lots of flavor. glkaiser (1171), Seattle, Washington, USA

Like many beers, this one needs to warm a little before you’re able to get the full effect of the taste. Lots of smooth chocolate with a little coffee and moderate roast. Pretty tasty porter...would definitely have again. Tranquillity (1167), Espoo, Finland

Three fingers of creamy-looking mocha head. Aroma of dark chocolate, a bit of coffee roast and grain. Mouthfeel is quite full and thick, some oiliness, some smooth milk-shakey creaminess. Heavy, weepy rings of lacing. Flavor is heavy dark chocolate with some hints of milk chocolate along with fresh coffee roast. At times veers towards a stout. Not much complexity but quite tasty and thick. redlem (1155), Illinois, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | May 30, 2007 Pours a opaque brown with a medium tan head. Aroma loses me, perhaps it is the different water but it seems metallic and a little thin. This goes along with the taste, yes the chocolate and roasted malts were there but it lacked a certain viscosity. An average beer with an ABV that is sure to boost it. I was reluctant to buy this beer due to the label reminding me of the old Warner Bros "Batman" series game with Nintendo and the purple "O" was like the Riddler part, which I hated. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 12, 2008 Pour was jet black with minimal head and lacing. Nice aroma of chocolate and roast with vinous notes. The flavor was rich chocolate and dark fruits with hints of roast and coffee. Really nice thick milkshake like mouthfeel. This was quite enjoyable, even if I had to sell my kids off for medical experimentation to pay for the bottle.
