Jan 26, 2009 Can’t see through this beer, or it’s beige head. Light roasted malts, some chocolate, berries, nuts, and molasses. Very nice. Thick, creamy, and silky smooth. Chocolate, toasted malts, faint dark fruits, some berries, molasses, and nutty. Finishes with little dryness and some bittersweet chocolate. This is one smooth, tasty, damn fine porter. Heavy, but not like many "stouts" that masquerade as porters. I should have bought three more... (Rating #800)

May 28, 2008 Lots and lots of raisin flavors, stewed fruit make this a much heavier beer that I expected. I have never really loved the raisin and prune characteristics of dark malts and can’t say that this beer has turned me on to them.

Nov 17, 2007 Bottle. Nearly opaque brown-black color with a medium sized dark brown head. Bittersweet chocolate and hints of roastiness in the aroma. Dark alefruit up front, with a nutty toastiness. Slight smokiness with a large chocolate character. Roasty, toasty finish with lingering baker’s chocolate and a phenolic bite. Mouthfeel is a heavy medium, somewhat dry.

Feb 12, 2008 Pours pitch black with a good sized tan head. Nose has noticeable cocoa powder tones and coffee notes as well. Flavor is more along the roasted edge. as it warms up there seems to be a sweet edge that borders on being berry influenced almost. Stays nice and rounded and a good aftertaste is left to linger. Feel is smooth. Carbonation is higher. Drinkable, yes. I like.

Sep 22, 2008 (Bottle). Aroma is slightly hoppy, some coffee and citrus. Black, with gargantuan thick fluffy brown head. Delicious flavor profile.....chocolate, malt, caramel, a touch of roastiness. Lengthy bitter finish. Wonderfully delicious.
