Nov 10, 2007 Dark color. Smell of roasted coffee, malt, chocolate, liquid smoke, dark fruit, hops and a touch of caramel/toffee. Taste of coco, hops, roasted coffee beans, malt, bread, caramel and sugar. It was thin but still enjoyable. Wish it was a little thicker.

Nov 11, 2007 Updated: Aug 1, 2009Bottle. Deep brown/black color with a brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, caramel, chocolate, syrup and coffee. Tastes of roasted malt, caramel, coffee, butter, dried fruits and chocolate. Creamy and caramelly. Not much bitterness. Nice porter. Re-rated 090802.

Oct 28, 2007 [Bottle] Pours black with a light tan head. Aroma is roasted malt, coffee, alcohol, and raisins. Taste is coffee and roasted malt with a little fruitiness (perhaps raisin). Quite thin. Decent finish. Too thin for me, but the aroma is pretty good.

Jun 21, 2007 Aroma was malty rich but still not to overly complex. A tad sweet but balanaced with a nice amount of dryness. A real solid porter considering this isnt one of my favorite styles.

Aug 26, 2009 It pours a dark, opaque sable with a VERY thick, if not too persistent, light brown head. The bottle I got foamed like nobody’s business, so be careful if you have this in a bottle! Aroma is rich, smoky, mocha-like with a hint of sweetness, very inviting. Flavor is like fine roast coffee with chocolate undertones, but it got a bit tinny as I got near the bottom of the bottle. Texture is smooth and fairly tingly. Satisfying.

Oct 31, 2009 500 ml. bottle. Shared with Gabe. Pours an exuberant mocha head, with some lacing, over a dark black/brown (SRM 38) slightly cloudy body.....nose is coffee, cocoa, some grain....taste is coffee, cocoa, with heavy bitterness....mouth feel is medium, carbonation high. The bitterness from the roasted malts was out of balance with the rest of the ingredients. I wonder if the bottle was off, given the descriptions of other reviewers.

Feb 15, 2009 500 mL. Pours almost pitch black with a very thin, tan head. Leaves fairly good lacing. Aroma of raisins, dark chocolate, raw cocoa, molasses, spiced rum. Taste is creamy with rum raisin, dark chocolate, coffee with a harsh bite of warming alcohol and roasted nuts. 7% is not totally hidden. Ends a little dry and watery but this is a porter not a stout. Very powerful and enjoyable.

May 19, 2008 50 Cl Bottle-Black pour w/a trace of Mahogany. Moderate tan head. Standard porter flavor, maybe a little more coffee than anything else, a little light on the chocolate. Had a little bite to it, I prefer mine a little smoother. Mouthfeel was kind of thin. Solid brew, but I was honestly a little disapointed what with all the buzz on these beers.
