Aroma is distinctly "Nogne" with a sort of burnt caramel, mineral heavy water, leaves, roast, chocolate, raisins...pretty versatile aroma when warm. When cold, it’s kinda meh. Tastes more normal though, some roast astringency, dirt, minerals, coffee, finishing with a pleasant roasty aftertaste, a little lactose as the beer gets swallowed. Medium palate, easy drinking, fairly well carbonated. It’s alright. Slipstream (760), USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 20, 2009 My first Scandinavian rating! Simple and attractive label. Very nice pour - a big tan head comes billowing up from the black liquid. A rich, sweet aroma with a bit of yeast and cheese. Flavor is dry and fresh: some coffee, smoke, and tart and bitter hops. There is something a little unusual too, like spruce or juniper or coriander. Maybe it is just the Norwegian water (which I bet is excellent). A very good dry porter. tarheels86 (758), Washington DC, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 15, 2009 500 mL. Pours almost pitch black with a very thin, tan head. Leaves fairly good lacing. Aroma of raisins, dark chocolate, raw cocoa, molasses, spiced rum. Taste is creamy with rum raisin, dark chocolate, coffee with a harsh bite of warming alcohol and roasted nuts. 7% is not totally hidden. Ends a little dry and watery but this is a porter not a stout. Very powerful and enjoyable. HopheadHans (755), Bay Area, California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 29, 2007 Bottle. Pours black with a nice brown head. Aromas of roasted malts. Flavors of coffee, roasted malts and chocolate. Perhaps a bitr too thin of a body for an otherwise robust porter. Bitter finish that lasts and a bit of spiciness. craftbeerdesign (754), Alpharetta, Georgia, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 18/20 | Dec 7, 2007 bottle. pours a deep black with a tan head that lasts through most of the glass. Tremendous amount of malts in here.... also, coffee, fruits (slight plum) and chocolate. medium body, not too carbonated and very diverse. A very nice porter from Norway.... one of the best imo. complex, delicious and full of enjoyment. Travlr (745), Washington, Washington DC, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Dec 10, 2008 Best beer of the night at the Publick House near Boston. Deep ruby-red medium-bodied porter with flavors of toffee and coffee, and a slightly smoky finish. It tasted like a true British porter, whereas most American porters taste like stouts. weaselkenievil (738), Cheshire, England
