Beautiful beer, very smooth, mild and slick body with chocolate, plum, coffee and nutty notes. Basically, all the good stuff you’d expect from a porter, none of the bad stuff...although the body could’ve been more robust. Clean, smoky, soft, very drinkable. Classic!

black, small but firm film of head. Aroma of roasted nuts, roasted malt, coffe beans and something you would find at a burning fireplace. Taste is a bit hoppy, with tangling carbonation. Well balanced, long aftertaste of mocca, malts and hops. Very nice example of the style

Serving: 16.9 oz. bottle. Appearance: Almost black with garnet highlights and a huge, creamy, light tan head. Great head retention and lacing. Aroma: Lighter than expected nose. Roasted malt, coffee, earth, and mineral notes. A little difficult to get much else. Taste: Sharp, upfront bitterness, roasted malt, a little caramel, mineral, nuts, and earth. Sort of there then gone except for the bitterness. Palate: Medium carbonation with a medium-rich mouthfeel and a medium, nutty finish. Overall: A decent porter with a good palate, but muted aroma and flavor. Rebuy: Worth trying but not rebuying.

The color was a deep chocolate brown. The head was creamy, light beige, and laced a little. The aroma was alcohol, roasty, coffee, very malty, and some chocolate. The appearance and aroma reminded me of a stout. The flavor was sweet, coffee, and roast. There was a dry waxyness at the back of the mouth. The palate was smooth and slightly carbonated. The finish was warm and roasty.

TAP: very dark brown pour with reddish tones in the light. Small white head. Molasses on the nose, maybe some turpentine. Bitter cocoa taste, molasses, licorice. Good stuff.

9/13/08 - Bottle courtesy/shared with Naka. Pours black with thin, khaki head. Nose is sugar and raisin, slight chocolate and caramel. Fantastic oak and bourbon-esque character. Taste is slight coffee and lits of chocolate, slight spicy notes. a bit of oak and bourbon-y alcohol. moderately watery mouth feel. Chocolate and slight bitter finish. Great porter.

bottle thanks to KAggie. shared at December Houston Tasting. Pours black with a nice brown head and some good lacing. Nose is funky with dried fruit and some roast malt. taste is same with some chocolate. Mouthfeel is medium-thin with carbonation and a bit harsh. Not the best porter I have had.

LCRBM2. Dark beer with a small biege rim. Smell rather subdued with some coffee and chocolat. Some bitterness in taste, chocolate and coffee. Well balanced. Nice!
