Sep 28, 2007 Bottled. Opaque, brown head. Roasted malts in aroma, some chocolate and coffee. Bitter flavour with some sweetness, coffee notes become more obvious. Lasting bitter finish. Creamy texture. Alcohol remains unnoticed. Nice beer, but more easy drinking than obviously complex.

Apr 23, 2006 Toasted malt nose, dark brown color, sticky tan head. Chocolate tastes, smokey at times, woody in the middle. Charcoal end. Medium body. Rustic, but quite enjoyable.

Dec 8, 2008 Sample at the Hopsnobbery Collective Porter tasting on 12/4/08: This brew is a solid brownish-black color with a medium thin and rocky light brown head that dissipates steadily. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of smoked malt and dark chocolate plus a touch of coffee. Medium, round body with flavors of roasted malt, bittersweet chocolate and raisins. Light smoky character throughout. The finish is soft and roasty with a mocha aftertaste. Pretty good all around.

Nov 27, 2009 Draught at Capone’s: Aroma of chocolate, malts, and caramel. Poured pitch black in color with a large, creamy, dense, rocky, brown head that lasted throughout. Great looking head. Opaque. Excellent lacing. Flavor is medium sweet and slightly bitter. tastes of chocolate, roasted malt, light caramel, and light maple syrup. Medium body. Dry texture. Soft carbonation. Roasted malt and chocolate finish is dry. A very nice porter.

Aug 11, 2007 Savannah, Ga. - Habersham Beverages, 500 ml bottle. Dark purple to black pour with an ever present mocha colored head. Strong aromo of ripening fruit, coffee and chocolate. Solid flavor with day old coffee, baker’s chocolate and plenty of potting soil. Thickish mouthfeel - just enough chalkiness and grit. Excellent Porter.

Apr 24, 2008 Bottle. Pours very dark black with a medium beige head. Aroma is filled with dark malts--chocolate, coffee, caramel, with some dark fruit and nut smell. Flavor is similar, lots of chocolate, coffee roastiness, some smoke even. Bittersweet finish from malt. Delicious.

Sep 10, 2006 [2nd Low Countries RateBeer meeting] Aroma of roasted coffee malts with some black currant fruitiness. Black coloured with a medium, brown head. Taste is quite smooth. Roasted coffee malt, some fruit and sweetness. Slightly dry. Well balanced taste. Very nice.
