Feb 22, 2008 dark violet black color with small brown head. chocolate berry aroma with a light spicy mocha note. smooth soft body. deep chocolate, blackberries, and currant flavors. there is a very small roasted coffee undertone. it has a bitter sweet spicy finish. delicious brew, fruity and warming.

Dec 21, 2007 A very fine porter. Ample roastiness that is very dirty tasting. A big tan head on this guy. Medium body with a maltiness that lingers on the swallow.

Goût plutôt sucré. Très bon produit.
J’ai un souvenir lointain de cette dégustation. Ce fut agréable mais pas inoubliable...

Aug 20, 2007 snuck this one on the plane back from vacation. aroma (through the huge pillowy head) of milk chocolate, roasted malts and light coffee. medium bodied with a creamy mouth feel (don’t know if i like that in a porter???). flavor is initially coffee and dark malts. as it warms, it develops some red wine characteristics nuttiness and some ashiness. leaves a burnt coffee flavor in my mouth. missing that bitter/acidic/bitey flavor in most porters....very smooth and creamy

Jan 25, 2009 Pours a dark, opaque brown with a small tan head that deposits patchy lace on the glass. The nose is of chocolate, light coffee, faint almonds and roasted chocolate malt. Medium-bodied and creamy-slick with a mildly bitter and roasty finish. Sweet roasted chocolaty malt with a light almond and hop bitterness at the finish. A lingering coffee roastiness compliments the hops into the aftertaste. This is a fine porter. I really like this beer.

May 17, 2008 Bottle from somewhere in North Carolina. Pours cola brown with a medium head. Good retention, moderate lacing. Nice roasty, mocha aroma. Taste is a little lighter than I expected, but what is there is good... roasted malt, coffee, nuts. Creamy feel.

Jun 14, 2007 Bottle. Dark as the darkest night with a brown and medium thick head. The taste is very full and well balanced, a little roasted. I agree with the commercial description that it should be enjoyed by itself, it’s close to liquid bread but a very good one. I enjoyed it!
