Oct 26, 2008 Getting notebook online. Bottle. Pours a very inviting black. Nose very sweet caramel and chocolate flavors. They follow to the tongue with some hints of coffee. Very excellent porter!

May 29, 2009 Pitch black pour with boisterous tan head that is slow to dissipate, but leaves an enticing layer of foamy lacing. Aroma is far more roasty than your average porter. Smokey roast gives way to dark fermented raisin, coffee, caramel, and vanilla bourbon. Flavor mimics the aroma in many ways. Roasty components shine through vigorously. Malt character is very sweet, manifesting in the form of date, fig, raisin, molasses, and caramel. Coffee and chocolate also shine through to create a grandiose set of flavors. Palate is silky smooth with the most modest and caressing of carbonation. Finish is the sort of dryness that only comes from a serious roasted malt component. Overall, very impressive.

Oct 9, 2007 Bottle from GBBF 07. Pours a dark brown/black with a good thick head. Aromas of roasted malt, coffee & chocolate. Tastes of chocolate & the wonderful bitter coffee flavour. Got a lot of time for this one.

Feb 5, 2008 Pours pitch black with a tan head. Aroma is dark, ripe fruit with a bit of coffee. Great flavor of coffee and fruit. Great mouthfeel and just the right amount of carbonation. Nice slightly bitter finish.

Nov 29, 2009 Dark mahogany pour with tan head. Aroma of alcohol and chocolate malt. Tastes of chocolate and caramel malt with vanilla, roasted bitterness on the finish. Great creamy mouthfeel.

May 29, 2008 16.9 oz. into pint glass. Pitch black pour with great creamy espresso, long-lasting head with very nice cascade effect as head and body settle into each other. Typical porter/stout aromas - coffee, molasses, milk chocolate, etc. - with a sweet vanilla undertone; very well rounded and complex and delicious aroma. Flavor is rich and full with all aromas included, most notably chocolate. Very soft and smooth on taste buds (like on palate) with no rough or offensive edges. Overall: one of the best porters I have ever had; not watery on palate like many other non-imperial porters (some ratings disagree though).

May 17, 2008 50cl bottle from Vinmonopolet, batch 269. It poured a black body with a dark creamy head that vanished very quickly. It tastes of coffee, toffee, apples and raisins. It expands in your mouth and the aftertaste lasts a long time.

Oct 2, 2008 Good beer. My 11th a beerfest. I couldn’t find this beer booth at first. I would towel off from the pool and have a Porter with cheese and crackers.
