Black with a firm and lasting light brown head. Luckily, roasted malt and chocolate is allowed to dominate the aroma, Christmas or not. There is a little wood, smoke and a touch of undefined spice on top of it. The flavour is dry and roasted with a delicate fruity finish. The lasting aftertaste adds licorice and chocolate. It’s one to sip, but it takes more than one sip to appreciate.

Dec 31, 2008 It is black with a red hue along the sides and the bottom of the glass and the head is huge and creamy. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, chocolate and a little spice. The flavour has a light sweetness and a roasted bitterness, notes of roasted malt, bitter chocolate, coffee and licorice. The notes of bourbon, wood and spice are very subdued. IMO the nice Skärgårdsporter is better au naturel or in one of the other versions.

Dec 30, 2008 Bottle at home. Black with a brown head. Aroma heavy malty (roasted, chocolate, cardamum, cinnamon, cloves), moderate hoppy. Flavor moderate sweet and bitter, smooth and round. Medium body.

Dec 29, 2008 Bottle from thewolf. Almost black and opague. Roast, honey and apple in the aroma. Just a bit thin. Roasty flavor with honey, cardemom and coffee. Well balanced porter.

Dec 28, 2008 Draft. A pitch black beer with a brown head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of roasted malt as well as light notes of bourbon and wood. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of roasted malt as well as lighter notes of soy sauce, bourbon, and alcohol, leading to a dry woody finish.
