Yeah there’s some coffee and dark rich roasted malts, but like the description says, burnt licorice and spices...funky! Unique, distinct, different with a touch of Belgian sweet stout notes, raisins, molassas, chocolate, strange fruits. unclemattie (2437), Georgia, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | May 13, 2008 50cl bottle. Pours dark brown. Sweet malt. Aroma of olives. Flavors of rich malt, with the essence of black olives. Rich malt, very heavy bodied. larsga (2980), Oslo, Norway
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | May 13, 2008 Medium brown head does not last. Opaque black body. Acidic burnt chocolatey aroma. Sweetish soft burnt licorice taste. Smoky burnt licorice starts immediately and lasts all the way through, lingering for a long time; wonderfully clear and distinct. Dry chocolatey notes in aftertaste. Very very good. (0.25l draft at Nørrebro.) tarjei (1758), Bryne, Norway

Flavor is coffee, hints of smoked malt. Fine bitterness in this rather ligth stout. JMFG (1514), Florida, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 2, 2008 Bottle. Black pour with very little head. Aroma of sweet coffee, light roast, some lactose, some sweeter dulce de leche notes. Pretty mild coffee and roast on the taste here, kind of reminds me of chocolate milk. Body pretty thin for a stout, but not really a problem. Pretty low key, but it kind of grew on me a little bit after a while. OleR (2106), Oslo, Norway
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 1, 2008 Draught @ the brewpub. Pitch black. Low tanned head. Cold coffee, roasted malts and sweet licorice to the nose. Coffee, roast and licorice in the flavor as well, on the sweet side though. Also with some spicy, peppery notes. Surprisingly light-bodied. Short, coffee-ish end. gunhaver (1043), Tampa, Florida, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Apr 29, 2008 Updated: Jun 5, 2008Bottle. Pours black, with a carbonated, light caramel colored head. Virtually no lacing. Some coffee in the aroma, mostly obscured by some booziness. Caramel, oats...Bland coffee flavor notes, some caramel and distant Belgian chocolate. Some spice in the finish. Extremely boring overall. Watery body, not very smooth. Carbonation subsides into a bubbly mess. I paid 19 bucks for this? Disappointed, to say the least. patrick767 (2051), fort wayne, Indiana, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 27, 2008 sample at DLD - Pours near black with a thin tan head. It has a mild roast malt aroma. Fortunately the flavor is stronger with dark roast malt, chocolate, coffee, and a slightly fruity note to it. I might be crazy about the fruit as I don’t see other recent raters noting it, but that’s okay. The beer is rather lighter than I expected, but still good.
