Commercial Description:
This sweet stout has been added cold water extract from a Mexican ecological single estate coffee. The result is a discrete coffee aroma that mixes with the slightly burnt licorice aromas from the dark malts combined with spices. The flavor is slightly sweet with an average palate and moderate bitterness and aftertaste.

Pour is blackish brown with a very thin brown head...smell is lightly sweet and roasty with chocolate and hints of coffee...nice solid chewy mouthfeel...a nice roasty flavor with chocolate (dark) with some slight metallic coffee flavors slowly building into the finish...nt metallic in the bad way, but perhaps "bright" is the phrasing I want to use...not as much coffee as I expected, but very god and drinkable!

Near black with tan head. Malty aroma, slightly roasted, a little sweet. Flavor has a little coffee, mostly towards the end. Mostly sweetish malt and some bitterness to go with the coffee. Not a very full body, feels sort of creamy anyway. Could be better, but then again, could be a lot worse. Overall a rather okay brew.

Bottle. Black color with a brown head. A faint roasted aroma, not very heavy and very hard to get out. Flavor of bitter coffee, whatever that would be, but some bitterness from the hops and deepness from the coffee. Some caramel here too and a bit yeasty as well. Not a very nice coffee palate.

Bottle. Head is initially average sized, fizzy, brown, fully diminishing. Body is black (non-opaque, flashlight tested). Aroma is moderately malty (chocolate milk, roasted grain, husks). Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly acidic. Finish is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Medium body, watery/syrupy texture, soft carbonation, lightly alcoholic. Where to begin? The head, yes, the head...as fizzy as Coca-Cola and just as fully diminishing...no trace of it left in only a few seconds after pouring. Ultra-simple aroma of chocolate syrup/milk and maybe some charred husks. Syrupy sweet with almost nothing at all to balance. Unpleasant in all aspects.

Had this with Great Lakes Blackout Stout. 2 for 2 on beers that are all over the place. Pours black with almost no lacing. First sniff is all coffee...first drink is all coffee. Very, very impressed. Reminded me a lot of Bells Java, and I was a very happy camper. However, the coffee rapidly gives way to a dark fruit/raisin/spice combo that isn’t nearly as enjoyable. The aroma becomes all raisins and dark fruit, and raisins take over as the dominate flavor. It seemed more like I was drinking a Belgian Ale than a sweet stout. Coffee still remained up front and in the back, but was just dominated all over by a syrupy spicey raisin flavor. I let this sit for a bit, and the coffee picked back up as the beer warmed, but at $16 a bottle, I doubt I’d grab this one again.

A black apperance with a small beige to tan head. The aroma consists of molasses, chocolate, and raisins. I didnt really smell licorice but I sure do taste it. I also pick up on some molasses, dark fruit, and chocolate. A rather syrupy finish to this one. Overall I really enjoyed this beer!

500. Thanks, BitBucket! Black. Thin, sudsy tan head that falls quickly away. Sweet, chocolatey nose with overtones of coffee and dates. Looks a little flat. Coffee, dates, and chocolate on the mid-palate. Mild chocolate finish. Good stuff.
